Welcome to Librarium Online!
A friend converted, prepped, and primed this model, which in this case interprets as, "I'm not responsible for the glaring mold line running across his helmet!" (Nor that, ahem, sack hanging from his belt).
He gave me some VC stuff and asked if I'd paint this model for him. I agreed, didn't get around to it for a long time, and finally knocked it out.
If you haven't seen much of my painting, think Wood Elves and Ogres, which in this case interprets as, "Armor? How do you paint armor?"
It's not non-metal metallic, demi-metal metallic, or true-metal metallics. It's what I fumbled around with and landed upon. It's fair, not great. The leather's a bit too orangy. The greens were blended after not really blending them but relying on some washes instead, which I rather liked as they gave the armor some nice hues and depth. The axe is too dark. The horns not terribly clean, but it's a good first run at Warriors of Chaos, which I'm starting soon (yes, that explains the name change).
Most of my models are rather "clean," so I went for a real grungy look with this guy. Or at least I tried to. Hence, the shield and dark armor, though the shield went too far. The verdigris is visible only upon close inspection.
Anyhow, here he is...
Tell your friend that he did an excellant job with the conversion. You did an excellant job also of painting. Hopefully this will be the theme of the army as I get so tired of seeing all dark WoC.
Always inspiring to know theres great looking work being done out there, thanks for posting pictures!
I am the Aquila-Guerilla!
i realy like it though it could use some dirtyness. but its a good stylized WoC love your buddy's convertion.
i dont know if it would help to have more metal on it i cant decide if i love of hate it....though i have done similar things as this so i think ill go with love it.
I really like the green armour, David. Just dark enough not to be overboard, and light enough to give him a really distinct, unique look instead of your typical metal/brown/black Warriors. I think the metals came out really well, too, almost as if they're in between pristine condition and rusty condition - i.e., they're seeing some current use!
I like the natural tones, It really works on that model too even thought it's The Khorne Champion. He is Nurgle right? lol. I really like the horns too, they look really good in the pic.
Anyway, Welcome to the winning side of Fantasy
I really like it. I think you've created a really good look with the mixture of shades of green, which is most suiting to the Mortal Chaos models. I am especially impressed, however, by the axe haft. Nice work. ^_^
I think it looks great, David. I agree that the leather looks a bit too orange-y and perhaps the shading on it is a bit too drastic in its transition?
The shield looks ace though. Love the tone of the metal you got going there. Axe shaft looks great as well and I must give you some kudos for the base which is very nice.
Keep the paint flowing!
