In a 40k tournament how goes the modelling if you're trying to proxy an IC.
Is it possible?
What stuff, and or how much of the ICs equipment must you model?
"When Blood Speaks, Shadows Answer."
If it's a tournament you're probably not allowed to have proxy models. Otherwise people would roll in with pepsi carnifexes and such.
As for wargear, if you take it you should somehow show it on the model. Every wargear option needs to be obvious.

If the Independant Character that you are "proxying" has a model, use it. If it doesn't have a GW produced model and you are going to have to produce your own, as for WYSIWYG, every piece of wargear has to be represented (e.g. Dakkacannons on Wazdakka) in some way.
Hopefully, you will make them with respect to the spirit of the model, making them look at least close to what they are supposed to be.
I think building your own special characters is cool. I have seen a customer Pedro used because the player didn’t paint his army like crimson fists.
As long as it’s not too far from the original it should be fine, as long as you tell your opponent what the model is before you play.
Using totally different models or Pepsi cans in a tournament won’t fly.
