Just some quick things
1. I bought some Simple Green wand am soaking my HE Spearmen and Genestealers in it. Its been in there for about 7 or 8 hours now how much longer roundabouts? [I did put the paint on pretty thickly]
Also can you soak metal models of half plastic/metal models in Simple Green?
Also is there any good painting things for Necrons because I like the Eavy Metal ones with silver then the little bit of rust and depth and I think Im up to painting to the standard, does anyone have the recipe?
Tekore's stripping article (that came out wrong) says a soaking period of a couple days should get most/all paint off the minis.
You can use metal/plastic in simple green but I've heard it loosens super glue. (but two part epoxy is better anyway, so why would you be using superglue, anyway?)
Also, Another stripping agent I've seen some good sucsess with is easy off oven cleaner. If the paint on the mini is old (a year or so) It'll need a few goes to fully get it off. It does not melt plastic, I don't care what you hear people say, oven cleaner will not ruin plastics. I've even tested it on sprue, and it is safe. Only thing about this is, do it outside, as the fumes are nasty.

So I can put metal models in Simple Green and it wont wreck anything of the detail and still get the paint off, but the only thing is the superglue will come undone? I'lle use the metal models in the Simple Green then to get the paint off then I'lle just glue it back together. SIMPLE!
oh and thank you very much
Howdy Darksun, i think chaos pretty much covered the Simple green question, so im here about the Necrons, well i had my attempt at painting them Eavy Metal, I didnt get it exactly right but here is how I went about it.
1)Basecoat tin bitz
2)drybrush joints boltgun metal with a split brush (so that paint gets on the edgees of the armour plates)
3)do the same but with chainmail and a smaller brush.
4)highlight the edges of the armour plates Mith silver.
5)whatever is left
thats how I went about it,(remember the ones in my WIP)
I would put your models in simple green for 24 hours, after 24 hours use a brush to get the paint off, thats what i do and it works great.
Thanks guys, useful information all around as usual
My Necron Wraith, Scarabs and Lord are all ready while the Warriors will take a bit more time. Overall thanks!
PS. Lets hope tomorrow at school I cant borrow some Super Glue off my friend.......
Haha, Crazy cat on the loose!
lets hope you get that superglue.
yes, our big tabby is crazy she broke my mums mobile a couple of weeks ago.
I didnt get the superglue my friend doesnt have any.
To make things worse I found out 2/3 of the hinges on my army case are broken so there goes $90 of army transport [ I'lle see if I can exchange it, I might of gotten a faulty, I;ve only had it for 6 months]
Yes I found out Im going to get 11 teeth removed next week and have Monday-Wednesday off school, my mum said she might get some superglue and a little box of something from GW to keep me occupied, plus I get 3 days off school, catch up on homework and warhammer! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow 11 teeth!!!! why?
Also bad luck with the case, im not sure thay give refunds, what is wrong with them?
Basically for my age I should of lost like 14+ teeth when in actual fact I've only lost 6 so the dentist is removing 11.
Well its just really loose since the hinges broke, but I spoke to the GW Hobby Service Centre and they were helpful and they said I can send it down there to Ingleburn then they'lle either replace it or not and even if not they'lle still pay for the postage and handling!
