I've recently gotten into a Space marines army, and for various reasons have decided on painting it in the Lamenters color scheme.
The most difficult part, I believe, will be to paint the even checkerboard design on the shoulderpad of every troop; so I thought I'd ask the forums to see if anyone had suggestions or tips on how to accomplish this design.
If anyone reading this doesn't know what the Lamenters look like, here is a picture courtesy of Lexicanum:
Undercoat in black/white then use a micron pen/staedtler pigment liner to draw on the lines or a brush if that is easier for you.
1. Undercoat white.
2. Paint the darker colour on first. Cover the entire area needed.
3. Then, using the second colour, paint on lines in a grid form, making sure the spaces between lines is the same as the width of the lines.
4. You now have a flat area of the lighter colour with regular darker squares. Now paint squares where the lighter lines cross, using the first colour again. You now have a checkered pattern.
5. Now highlight the centre of each square, this making the checkers look more regular.

Thanks you two! Rep for both!
I will get out a shoulderpad soon to attempt that grid, silent. We'll see what happens!
