How do you paint glow effects?

I was wondering how do you paint your glow effects on your models. I'm starting a Soul Drinkers army soon with AOBR and I was going to make my commander a librarian. I want to (pretty much) clone the glow effects on this (see link below) model.

I have no experience with glow and I want to know if you guys have any advice?

    Here ya go:
    How to Paint Glowing Eyes

Its only eyes, but it should help you develop your thought on other glowing objects.... (hopefully)

Hope this helps, and lets see some practice shots!

Just water down your paints a lot for a translucesnt look around the source for simple, but if you want to go complex, you can look at where the light would fall on the rest of the mini. Use fewer/thinner layers the farther/more angled it is from the source.

Sorry, that came across wrong. I was just implying that he was on CMON and didn't check the tutorials.

Heres a much better tutorial for overall lighting effects imo.

I think it shows my current lack of sleep in that, when I read this sentence, I thought you were telling him to go pick up an Egyptian Pharoah.

I think your avatar accurately describes your mental state however...

And you're right the second tutorial accurately describes the theory behind it, but I think the one i gave tried to give a more step by step approach. Combine to two to have the best results!

And be sure to post pics of the converted souldrinkers (if of course you're making them true to form). Would like to see how you do the conversions for some of the mutations they have, or well, mostly how you'd do the chapter master with his organic/bionic spider legs.

Actually here are some links to some interesting conversions of Soul Drinkers (none done by me)

To be honest, almost everything I know about the Soul Drinkers comes from Lexicanum, although I recently picked up Chapter War (wish I could have started from the first of the series, but, alas, my local Barns&Nobles doesn't carry (at the moment) any others in the series)
