The south will rise again.
You racist @#%!&*~, I hate your guts!
I have no opinion, I just like voteing in polls.
I bought a kit for a leman russ when I was very new to the game and have tricked it out and customized it to the Nth degree. I am finally going to paint it up. I am doing it as a gag for a friend who is this short black dude that is totally obsessed with the dukes of hazard, and The General Lee in particular.
I have decided to paint the tank Fiery Orange and give it decals to match the car from the show, I even am going to free hand the flag on the roof, what I am wondering is if you guys think the flag would be too offensive to leave it on when I go to play with the tank at my local store.
Some people see the confederate flag as a racist hate symbol, even though this is just a gag it could give them the wrong Idea. So do I keep the top decal or paint over it later?

I'm a colored man from Virginia. I think this is a hilarious idea and you should go for it.
that sounds awesome.
We who have seen war will never stop seeing it....In the silence of the night, we will always hear the screams....
Sometimes the best defense is a good offense... Wait, what?
It is sad that the flag has come to be known as a symbol of racism and hate. Same with the swastica.. (originally a Native American Tribal symbol as well as other countries.)
- China - wan
- England - fylfot
- Germany - Hakenkreuz
- Greece - tetraskelion and gammadion
- India - swastika
The Original Meaning
The word "swastika" comes from the Sanskrit svastika - "su" meaning "good," "asti" meaning "to be," and "ka" as a suffix.
Well the origin of the confederate flag is simply that, an origin. It comes from the British Flag, a representation of where the settlers of America came from, and what they overcame...
Keep the flag. With the Numbers on the side, everyone will understand that you are just a good ol boy.
I would say that if your friend is obsessed with the General Lee, he would be sorely disappointed if you were to take the time to convert and paint a model of the General Lee and then leave off the most iconic symbol on it.
I think in india they put dots between the twists in the swastika.
1: Keep the flag
2: Mount the Russ on a display base so it's launching into a jump.
I've seen Leeman Russ' painted in many different themes and such and I have to say the "Hello Kitty" one I saw pretty much has taken the cake; I have yet to see a 'Stars and Bars' one done yet.
While I do see that your friend is a fan of the show and that it's all in fun and such, coming from a legal background, I'd caution the application of the symbol, due to the reputation that the symbol has gotten.
Now I don't want to say that I'm here to rain on the parade, I'm just saying to be cautious about it. I know plenty about the history of the Confederate Flag. My family is from the South and I can personally trace my roots to a Confederate cavalryman who served R. Lee during the duration the Civil War. (He later went on to become a lawyer, much like how I'm looking to do!) I feel that the flag is a symbol from our past as a nation in troubled and clouded times and I personally hate to see it used in a disrespectful manner by hate groups and ignorant people. Our country has come a long way since that time period, but please be very careful in regards to other peoples' feeling in the use of the symbol, especially in our game. While it may not offend people you know, it does have the potential to do so to others, regardless of their beliefs/race/creed and their feelings about the symbol.
On my own judgment, I personally wouldn't put the flag on their due to my own feelings about the symbol and also for fear of offending anyone at my local gaming spot. It's your decision though, just giving you my .02!
I'd hate to see a fellow LO'er get in trouble at the local gaming store because of this since I know you mean no harm at all towards anyone!
Have a good one!
