So I've decided to start Tau as my second army and I'm having trouble deciding which color scheme to use. I've been trolling around looking at galleries and such and I have found a few that I like. I was wondering what recommendations and/or comments you have for these schemes. So far I think I like the Blue and Orange the best. Like these:
I think I like the dark blue better and came up with a firewarrior scheme, but I'm not too sure of it. I think it has too much of the light blue in it.
I also thought about maybe making the eyes green.
I also came across a decent red scheme but I'm not sure if I would like it throughout the whole army.
Any comments on these would be appreciated. I'm open to almost everything except to something with lots of bone or green in it, cause I already play Deathwing.
definately loving the orange and its moderate use.
I think that's a very cool colour scheme. Good colour combo.
After some toiling I have come up with this.
It has more separation of the colors and I think it blends better. And I figured Tau are more stoic in their colors, so more of the dark blue was needed and less of the light blue everywhere. I think I am going to do the chest circle for the squad colors. I don't know what I will do with the circle on the gun though.
If I'd started painting Tau, I'd stay away from orange. This only because, I am tired of seeing every Tau figure in it!
I did like the blue and orange ( **gringe** ) scheme, and the scheme with two shades of blue. Though, I would have done either a light/med scheme or a med/dark scheme.
Since the Tau Empire, is ever-exspanding, maybe create your own sect? Wouldn't be hard to do, and it would be a nice "excuse" to any color scheme you can dream of.
I also like the idea of green/bone, too. I believe I saw something like that, in an article, for Games Day. Dark green models with the "bone" as trim. It was REALLY sharp!
Just my two bolter casings.

I think the latest scheme you've come up with looks quite nice. My only point would be that I feel there is too much black. I think the two blues work really well together, and the orange decals, I'm just not sure on all the black bits. Although, if done correctly and highlighted well I guess it would look nice.
I would also love to see the dark green/bone Tau scheme, that sounds awesome!
wow awesome scheme
We who have seen war will never stop seeing it....In the silence of the night, we will always hear the screams....
Nevertheless, you are very close to having a really awesome colour scheme. You have found a colour which compliments orange very well and I think it will look great when you get your brushes out.
