What sort of shops would a person go to if he wanted to buy rare earth magnets but didn't like shopping online? I know it'd be easier and cheaper and all the rest of it, but I don't like buying stuff over the internet. Anyone got any information to impart?
Hmmm, most people I know get them online. You could try your local game store and if they don't have them in stock, have them order for you. Buying from the gamestore usually involves a pretty significant mark up.
I hate shopping online though; I have reasons, they're threefold. When you say "game store", you mean like GW or what?
I mean your local game or hobby store. Both of the stores I go to carry them, but they've basically just made a bulk order from one of the online sellers, broken up the lot in bags of 10 magnets and marked up the pricing.
Sadly, I know of no hobby store in my area that carries them, and I imagine they'd be pretty hard to find. I get mine from Amazing Magnets' Web site. Reasonable price, good service, and fast shipping. It's not "being there," but I suppose it's the next best thing. No, I don't work for them. Just bought stuff from them.
Fortunately, you can buy the magnets dirt cheap by the hundreds in one session. I first bought some over a year ago, and haven't needed any more since, if that's any consolation.
http://www.amazingmagnets.com/ is where I get them online.
You can find them at Radio Shack in sets of 2, but it’s allot more expensive this way and they usually only have a few sizes.
So I am guessing any electronics store could have some, Also I know craft stores like Michaels sell some of the weaker magnets.
Here are two european online stores with rare earth magnets. Sorry, I can't tell you about any stores that sells them, tho.
