So i was just messing around with an idea that i had for my cadians, And i wanted to see what everyone out here thinks. Im not too pleased with how the yellow came out. I used two thinned down layers of Ianden Darksun, followed by two thinned layers of Golden Yellow. If anyone had any tips to get it looking better i would appreceate it. (such as a different, better covering yellow?) Keeping in mind, i dont want too bright of a yellow, im even concidering just keeping it at the ianden darksun layers.
Oh.. but i dont look so good with all those.. tentaclly things..
I don't have too much experience with painting yellow.
That being said, for a darker yellow try undercoating the area with a nice brown (like bestial), then build up with thin layers at a time. You'll eventually reach a darkened yellow you like (maybe after 2-3 layers) and then highlight from there.
Let me know if that works for you.
Shade the yellow with a mix of yellow and brown or something. That would make the yellow look better and more interesting to look at. And then I would just highlight the armor a little with mixing in a brighter yellow with the golden yellow after the shade.
Hope it helps.
Wow, that's funky!
I second all the above statements while 2 of my own:
.1. grenades and water bottles will look better in their own color, so not blue but yellow or the color of the gun casing
.2. Make the gun casing a simple, single color, you got enough color going on with the yellow, the red and the blue camo. So perhaps a grey or black, which you can then use for your nades, water bottle, etc.
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.
