I just finished up college so I've a lot more time on my hands now thanks to the recession. I haven't painted in over a year and I was curious to see whether I could still do it. I still had some half painted Dark Angels Veterans lying around so I decided I'd give it a bash and see how I got on.
Mods, if you want me to change these to links I will just let me know.
Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks guys.
Not too shabby, not at all. Is that freehand on the shoulderpads? If so, you've got quite the steady hand! Well done! Is that "Joe" or "Job?"
I also like the crimson cape. Highlighting looks pretty good. It seems a bit muted, but that may be the lighting.
The metal armour looks good. Looks a lot like the grey knights, and that's not a bad thing. Did you highlight the armour? I can't tell from the pic, but if not, consider some Mithril Silver on the extreme edges, points, etc., plus a wash of Badab Black.
Also, what are you doing with the eye lenses? I can't tell from the pic.
Overall, a nice start! Looking forward to more!
Cheers mate. The coat of arms on the right and two swords on the left are freehand. I searched for Guardians of the Covenant on google and some guy has a guide on how to do the swords, it's pretty simple really and just takes time with a small brush.
I have the mini in front of me here and I've just realised how dark those photos are. I'll finish up another guy and see if I can take some brighter ones.
I've never been able to figure out eyepieces. If I read a step by step guide I'd probably get it but all I went for was dark angels green with a small bit of dark angels green mixed with skull white in the inside corner. I'll have a look around and see what other guys are doing with theirs. Armour is highlighted with mithril silver but it seems to be invisible in the photo!
