So i've decided to paint my Eldar army white and black. the main color will be white with armor plates being black.
This seemed like an easy way to go as i could simply go with the skull white basecoat and paint it up from there. however i am having a problem with highlighting, as there is no brighter color than white, and i cant highlight the black armorplates without making it stand out too much.
I am hesitant to try a wash as i would like to keep my army with a "clean" look to it.
The white undercoat is quick but it does not look as good as actually painting the models white. Just using the basic white spray paint will make it look like just that, you sprayed the models and did not apply any colour. It won't look white but like you didn't finish painting your Eldar. Highlighting white is hard too. You can try using a shade of very light grey. Use the lightest grey you have or mix some light grey and white together. Paint the areas ypou want white and then shade them with this grey. Or paint them completely with this grey. You can the drybrush them heavily with white and you will be left with the grey in the cracks and it will provide shading. If you want it cleaner just paint all the raised areas white and leave folds in cloth etc grey.
You can then paint the armour plates black. You can quickly highlight them by using this light grey again. Use a drybrush to very lightly apply the grey to the edges of the black and it will make it look highlighted. You can also leave the black as it is and apply a coat of gloss varnish to it. The gloss varnish will be very reflective and provide the highlighting you want with real light.
There is a great tutorial from minus-t on how to paint white power armour, and it could certainly be applied to eldar.
Marines - All built, 4/5 painted. Tau - 3/4 built, 0 painted. 'crons - 1/2 built, 1/2 painted.
I suck at staying on task.
greatt thanks a lot you two , i think ill try the space marine white.. although it may take a long time to paint mass guardians
