I am a newbie painter who is just getting started, and im looking for feedback and critique.
my non-warhammer playing friends just go "neet!" and leave it at that.
any and all comments are welcome.
Wow that is really well done, I wish I could say my first stuff looked anywhere close to that.
Tyranids W/L/D - 13/4/3
Vampire Counts - 1/2/0
Space Marines - 2/0/1
I like it. I would suggest using some more highlights on the sinewy parts
Pretty darn good, I'd say. I like the colour scheme you've chosen.
Some things to consider. You might want to take a small detail brush and highlight the skin a bit further and/or hit the very deepest recesses with a black wash to make the skin pop a bit more.
The claws and scything talons look a bit flat. Hit them with a brown wash and then highlight them with bleached bone again and then a further highlight with skull white at the very edge.
Also, this is an HQ choice. Don't be afraid to embellish them. You could bring in another colour for the small details like the veins on its head or those wierd slits on the arms and places (I think they're some kind of breathing holes, but what do I know?)
Oh, and a nice base is always worth an extra point or two on the golden demon scale.
I love the colours you've chosen, very unique!
Also your highlighted looks fantastic, and works really well!
Overall, great first model!

Nice stuff and like whodunnit sayedwith some more techniques you can refine the model to give it a little more depth which will greatly increase the Organicness of the model.
P.s. Rep for first model
That's a cool bug. I like the horn on it's head and the way you have the green and bone together on it. Those colours work well, green and purple are good togther and very buggy. I think you could try to use some inks to deepen the colours on it. Reppy for you and your bug.
thank you for the kind words and ideas to better it, everyone!
ill touch up the claws and such like you suggested, im not very good at painting yet so im wary of doing a wash on the skin, im afraid it would ruin my hard work. ill have to experiment on a gaunt or something and see how it goes.

I wonder if you are destined to be forgotten. Will your life fade in the shadow of greater beings?
im loving the colours u went with
