Welcome to Librarium Online!
I have a metal Farseer model with a staff, and at a very thin point, the staff broke off. The break point is too thin to pin and too thin to properly glue. So far, I have had the best success with epoxy glue but the bond is rather weak.
I also have a similar problem on a Dark Reaper's backpack antenna.
Nevertheless, how do you all repair small breaks without pinning?
I was thinking of just bulking it up with Green Stuff as a last resort.
I'd make a new staff out of a stronger material, cut off the original staff head, and pin it on the new staff.
You could try using blue tac to hold it in place while you superglue it. I tend to stick to GW products for glue but I'm sure there are others out there that are just as good.
Once you've glued it, you could try varnishing the joint a few times, just to give it a little extra strength- or for that matter super glue painted over it and then you can touch up the paint job?
I have seen that happen before. What one guy did is he balled up some green stuff n used that, then made some strips of green stuff and made it look like there was a silkish strip of cloth running down it, then put a couple of symbols n such on it. It looked VERY nice, but he was also pretty decent with green stuff.
That would be my suggestion, but if you are like me and couldn't save your life by using green stuff, idk. Hah
The Blue-Tac idea is something I never considered. Additionally, the idea of multiple layers of varnish is also something to consider; I am not sure if it will work, but it sounds like it may. Thankfully, the model is mostly unpainted near the staff because I was painting it when it broke.
If all this fails, I will join it with a strip of Green Stuff and disguise it as a ribbon or something.
Thank you for the ideas!
