Hi all im looking for help.
Iv just got my first units built for my new 'Warriors of Chaos' army and Iam currently deciding what colour to have them.
I want to be able use it with any 'Mark of chaos' so the use of green, red, blue and sadly pink are out of the question.
I was thinking of having a Black legion colour scheme. Using black and gold.
My question is how do i not make black look flat and dull.
Do i undercoat it with something else other then Chaos Black?
What kind of colours should i use to highlight it?
Or any suggestions to an alternative neutral chaos god colour.
Any help would be much appreciated.
thanks in advanced
If you want to create a metallic black look you could include just the smallest amounts of boltgun metal to make it shine a bit (or you could gloss varnish it, for that matter).
Often though, the pros will highlight black with a single line, sometimes up to three shades wide, of extreme highlight just around the defining edges of the armour. It will make the armour really pop without making the surface appear grey. For an example, look at Kayvaan Shrike on the GW website.
Honey badger don't care.
You can still use red, green blue and pink for your miniatures, even if undivided. Plenty of undivided armies are red, at least!
I'm painting some of my unmarked warrior in the same colorscheme.
Just mix boltgun metal with some black ink as a basecolor.
Highlight the edges with normal boltgun metal or chainmail.
mix some white and blue paint and do a glowing effect arount the eyes.
Dillute the same blue mix and put some accents on the armour plates.

Tin Bitz and a Black Washes will give ya that blackish metal look.
