Ok so I felt the urge to repaint my dark elf army, and decided to go with a nagarythe-type theme. So I'm thinking royal...elegant...so im thinking of painting the cloth a deep red, much like velvet. But now onto the armor.
I want alot of metal on the models, probably steel and such. But I am having trouble deciding what type of metal to use. Should I go for a more high-elf looking bright steel look, where it would give a more awe-ful and majestic apearance? Or should I go for a darker metal tone, more true to their dark nature.
I think the darker look would compliment the velvet you describe much more effectively than a lighter tone. Think Chaos Black and Boltgun Metal combined.
As Pierced said, the darker silver will be a good contrast with the red. Also, dark steel is more fitting in with the character of the dark elves. You can get a nice dark look from a heavy washing of badab black over boltgun metal.
