I have been working on a dipped Beil Tan Eldar force for a month or so now, i usually post at the table top terrain forums here www.tabletop-terrain.com - Index
I have decided to share the results to get a little more feedback. I am using a custom mixed dip consisting of all in one stain and varnish, tamia enamel clear colours and clear gloss varnish. I have made 2 different opacities of dip, A higher opacity for aspects and characters and a lower opcaity for guardians and walkers and vehicles.
Dark Reapers, 10 Dice saying you tac squad is dead
Rangers, The 5th guy needed to be fixed and painted, which has since been done but hasn't been photographed.
Wraith Lord, Needs his backpack and I have since decided to mount a second weapon on his right arm.
Heres the assembled unit. I am still trying to get a good focal depth on groups of figures.
I am working on a unit of converted Dire Avengers and I am looking for 3 more plastic bretonian heads as shown below. I have pinched this picture from The Round Table of Bretonnia - Home which looks to be a rather nice website including picturs like this for the whole bretonian range.
In return I can offer the same number of different heads (incase you need them). I also have an extensive bits box and collection of OOP models if your after something else
Here is the first test head, I need to order some green stuff to finish. I do a lot of sculpting with a 15 minute cure epoxy putty called Kneadit however its not much chop for doing fine details such as the lip around the avengers face.
And here, very roughly, is the shape I need to sculpt on:
I was surprised to see how closely the curves matched, if I get it right they will look less silly than a face with a horse head hat =] I am also thankful that my prefered sculpting tool, a stich unpicker, has the exact proportions for the eye socket indents and once I get some GS I'll be laughing...
Once I can tear myself away from Red Faction Guerrilla I will make some more progress.
More mussings over my Eldar can be read at tabletop terrain here (including more pics of my converted avitar). I have also discussed more on the technique of dipping here Eldar WIP @ tabletop Terrain.

Not bad for a dipped army, not bad at all!
My fave model is by far the Wraithlord, and he turned out excellent. The Fire dragon's helmets looks a little funky and don't seem to match, but other than that I think you did a fantastic job!
How would you think a dipped grav-tank would look?
COMMISSIONS NOW UP: www.powerklawkommissioning.com
Don't quite have the time to paint?
Check out the site - Great prices, Great painting!
I think the dipping has worked really well! They look really nice!
The only slightly negative point is that they all look exactly the same, but that's not your fault, just a lack of variety in the minatures!
Great stuff though!
Cheers and the fire dragons had a coat of tamia smoke added after the dip to make it darker, they looked realy plain as solid red, I might go back and add another coat which should make it look more uniform.
The Wraithlord definately came out nice, I still need to get his weapons done. And I you will have to wait until I get around to painting my falcon. It will be dipped and by dipped I mean the dip will be painted on. I am tempted to make the top white and the bottom green but I think it would look silly.
Cheers and Yeah most of my models are from the dark ages of GW when you got 2 or 3 metal sculpt so they are a little boring. I would have converted more if I could be bothered but mostly I am saving the conversions for the models which arent already something useful (The Avengers).
Speaking of which heres a update on the progress of the Unicorn Helmed Dire Avengers.
Test Model - Here was the first one out.
The rest are comming along nicely. I am going to bullpup the shurican catapults on the Exarch. it was an oversight and despite his manliness the model doesnt look ballanced enough.
The rest of the squad.
I got all the heads preped last night, I will be starting the sculpt tonight.
Here is another conversion I am working on.
I am building a Exodite Farseer and council mounted on 'Counts as Jetbikes' Acid spitting reptiles. I will probably do up a few more exodite units (The unicorn avengers count in my mind) including some Fire Dragons with the bretonian dragon helm crest.
BTW I am still short one plastic bretonian unicorn helmet if anyone out there can help.

I have been working on the heads for the unicorn avenger squad.
The little stands are just paperclips bent up and splayed out. I heated the tips and just pushed them into the bottom of the head. They arent glued so I can twist them for access.
I started off by making another gun using my push mold, the new one has the flash arround it with a couple of cleaned ones ready for use below it. Also note one of the bullpuped s.cats for the Exarch. I have done both the same and I jsut got to fix em up with a little GS.
I like your idea with the old Guardian Lasguns. Wish I knew how to work greenstuff, cause I got about 30 of them myself.
Nights Justice Space Marines
Eldar Eth Kariel Craftworld
Spear of Kurnous - High Elf Expeditionary Army
Unicorn head? how about just horse heads that would be cool? the unicorn thing is kinda...WEIRD? yeah, very weird. doesnt make sense either. why would eldar use a human idea?
but again, the horn is really off color for dire avengers.
Beautiful army, i like the idea of horse heads on the dire avengers, but i suspect they will lokk dumb unless you paint them well.
Keep it up!
It doesn't think, it doesn't feel, It doesn't laugh or cry, All it does from dusk till dawn, is make the soldiers die.
Djones9916: I used some cheap epoxy putty to make a mold of the barrel of one of the metal s.cats that you could get for these models. I got one more to make so I will show you how I did it.
Backdraft005: I was originally going to cut the crests off and just use them but when I noticed that the helmets were similar I figured why the hell not. Would it make more sense if I said they were exodite themed Avenger to go with the exodite seer council.
I'm not sure what makes a unicorn a human idea, just cause no troops in 40k ride unicorns into battle doesnt mean they arent in the universe somewhere. The horn on the head at least could have a practicle use (toasting marshmellows) and makes a lot more sense than back banners on the new GW models in a very samurai (human) ideology which just make the avengers bigger targets.
I think the unicorn fits well with Dire Avengers, "In even the earliest references he is fierce yet good, selfless yet solitary"... (Wikipedia). Although not solitary the avengers are certainly "noble warriors, and are merciless to their foes and unstinting in their devotion to their people." Their are alot more traces to mytical creatures in the eldar army than in most other armies.
amphibious: Cheers, They will be pretty standard DA colours and they will also be dipped. I think they should come up all right though the Ork in me thinks its all very queer and wonders when I am going to get back to a respectable army *Waaagh!*
Its is nice though, to be forced to think about each game turn rather than just charging and beating the snot out of everything.
~_~ but their......unicorns...... horse where once revered as mystical creatures, by the asians. so......horses!
good luck with the army, regardless.
