I just wanted to show you guys one of my earlier models. It was one of the first models that I was very proud of, and it took me quite a while to paint it at the time. I entered it in a local GW painting competition a few years ago and I believe this model came in second place in the under sixteen category. So I'm just curious as to what you guys think of him. And because I believe someone will point this out, I understand that the base is quite weak compared to the rest of the model. I had not started making interesting bases when he was painted.
Well how does your newer stuff look then? I don't think I've seen any of it.
But that Ranger looks pretty solid. As you said, the base is somewhat weak but overall it's a solid mini.
Very understated with the dark colours, me like. With bases think of them as 1/3rd of your model. Even with a fantastic paint job they could only ever reach 70% if all they have is some flock put on.
I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand
Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm.
Its nice, and to a good tabletop standard, fits the bill well enough.
I would add some debris (kitty litter?) and some small plants around his feet (e.g. greenstuff leaves or longer grass) and the job is a goodun!
