I'm looking for a decent model kit of a half track troop carrier thing for my Guard army. I'm about to give up looking for a decent model kit. So any help would be greatly appreciated.
Anyone out there know of a set that works? Or seen someones conversion? Links would be handy.
How about this one?
U.S. M24 Half Track - 1:50 Scale / Corgi Classics models / Hot Deals catalogue
I would sugegst that this type of vehicle would be a great proxy for a half-track in Imperial style, just need to potentially add a few additional armour plates to teh cockpit section, and perhaps add more weaponry
^ Kithres model looks quite nice and would need very little conversion which is always handy.
If you wanted to try something with a little bit more of a conversion element to it you could always go for something like an open topped jeep / vehicle such as ...
CWT30 Chevy LRDG (1/56th): Brigade Games and Hobby Supply, LLP
And then if you want to add the 'half-track' part you could always go and grab a Ork Wartrakk and cut the back half of it off and with a bit of file / knife work you could get rid of all the iconography and somehow attach it to the jeep. Only issue with the jeep is it is a metal / resin model which may be a little tricky. Just some food for thought

Awesome, Cheers guys. I think I prefer the one Camel put up though.
I was going to convert the Ork Wartruck but i need TEN of these to mount my guard so it's a bit to much effort to go making each one out of plasticard. One maybe but ten? lol no way.
I'm pretty shite with scales though. I thought 1:35 was about right for 40k? Would 1:50 be to small?
40k is 1/48th scale a believe but its very hard to find models this scale 1/35th should work quite well!
1:50 scale tanks go best - the scale is actually close to 1:60, but with oversized weapons and fat bases and large heads, the 1:50 scaled tanks don't look out of place at all
Awesome. Cheers guys.
Just got to find a set which is cheaper than a chimera now lol.
