Cheers to all the guys on here who gave me those links to Half Tracks a few weeks ago. I gave up looking at other companies models in the end though as the quality (and price!!) wern't really what i was after.
So i set about making my own. He's not finished yet, I still need to put on another Heavy bolter, some hinges and all the rivets but heres some work in progress pics for you to look at.
Any Coments and constructive criticism is more than welcome as this is my first attempt with plasticard.

One last pic showing the Ork Truck parts i used for the Base.
PS: If you're really geeky you'd have recognised L.O on the screen of the lap top behind the pics.

Shoot first....shoot again....annnnnnnnnd shoot some more, cause I think I saw his leg twitch.
Also, very mad props to aerion_the_faitful for making so many damn good drawings, esp. ones of Space Marines (and the one that I use for my Avatar)!
Really nice model! I love the converting you've done on the Ork Wagon to turn it in to that!
My only comment is the wheels still look too Orky, but I realise that's hard to find the right size wheels and change.
Overall though, fantastic model! Look forward to seeing it painted!
Thanks for all your feed back!
I did actually have a play about with a gun mount on top although it was for a Heavy Stubber not the Heavy Bolter. I didn't really like the look to be honest . I even tried using the turret thing that comes with the Ork truck with a guardsmen using it but that looked pretty bum as well. Maybe i'll give it a go on the next one i build (i've got 9 more to build)Bitz: Yeah all i used was the Ork truck as the base. I built the Carriage and added the engine, the bottom and front of the crew compartment and that was it. The deatils are just some guard bitz lying around. The rest is just Plasticard. What bitz did you use to make it? Only from the ork truck? The wheels were a problem and the ones i found (and bought) were, well to realistic really. They stood out from the rest of the model so i went with the orky ones and filed off all the spikes. My only comment is the wheels still look too Orky, but I realise that's hard to find the right size wheels and change.
I've got some more pics of the work i did last night. It's just hinges and the lights. I'm thinking about using the skull on the bonet and modelling flames around it. Think that would be to much going on?

wow i love it! rep for you

I think you should stay away from the flames though. Keep it industrial-looking and something that just rolled off an assembly line. The skull looks good enough as it is in my opinion.
Oh, and the hinges... they are beyond awesome! So is the plan to make 9 more trucks!!!
I like it though and look very much foreward to seeing them all lined up and painted
One last thing. Do you plan on making them all looking similar? Or perhaps making them different at the back. Some open topped and others with ammo crates or with armored roof and sides? Perhaps put a crane on one of them, kinda like this?
Yeah 9 to go lol. *sigh* I was looking for a cheap way of doing a Mech guard army and thought something like a half track/truck would suit their recon theme. Unfortunatly the Ork truck costs £18 and by the time i buy the plasticard it works out more expensive. Ah well, it serves me right for trying to be a cheap arse lol.
I might swap some bits around on different vehicles but i'll probably keep the main hull looking the same to tie them all together. I might do the transports for the squads armed with heavy weapons turrets or soemthing and do the Command truck as more of an armoured car. But we'll see how it goes lol.
I'm tempted to buld some kind of Dune Buggies instead of sentinelsThats quite a cool idea actually. I've got laods of sentinel legs lying around so it shouldn't be to hard to make a crane. Dammit stop giving me ideas!!!!! I've still got to finish building my other guard army yet!!!Perhaps put a crane on one of them, kinda like this?
