I've been making references to my two current armies for a while on my conversions thread and now I finally have some pics to show off and get some feed back.
First up I'll show off the World Eaters I made up for a tourni at the start of this year. I'd never really liked he idea of doing a full Khorne army. Out of all the cults I thought there was the least conversion oppertunity in Khorne as it was just combat guys, Tzeentch and Nurgle always had much more of an appeal. That was until the FW Zerker upgrades kits came out, then I was in love.
I don't have many pics of the 1st wave/tourni army I mad as I was in a real hurry and tried to keep the converting down. Theres more of the second wave which is still a WIP.
Heres one of the basic Zerker squads. I've gone for bare arms on ALL the models and double-handed axes wherever possible.
and a close-up of the aspiring champion with the head from the WHFB Khorne lord
Kharn the Betrayer:
and the Terminator Lord with massive Bloodfeeder:
Thats the pics of the finished stuff (thers more but I didn't get pics of it). After the tourni I was really pumped about the army and so got straight to work on a second wave. This idea got sidelined as I (again) got distracted by new possibilities. Heres as far as I've gotten so far:
and Spawns playing Rock, Paper, Scissors
Then theres the Bloodthirster made from about 5 big expensive kits and too much GS
He's only half painted. I need you guys to annoy me sufficiantly to get him, and my other stuff on the Themed Armies thread, finished off.
Theres plans for a Brass Scorpion/Defiler, more Zerkers and Raptors but who knows when I'll get around to them.
My newest Current project is a Space Wolf varient army called the Iron Wolves. I'm using the Deathwing codex for this army so its all Termis. For some reason at the start of this project I made the rule of it being all plastic; no metal, no resin. This has proved to be a hinderence and a blessing. Thers some great wolf stuff in metal that I can't use but also its made me try out different things with plasticard and scour the plastics range like never before.
Termi Squad 1:
Termi Squad 2:
All this is still very much in the WIP stage. Thers still a fair bit GS work to do on all of them. I've just gotten my hands on 2 Ironclad Dreads which I'll be making into normal dreads for this army and theres a 3rd termi squad being built at the moment.
Hope this hasn't gone for way too long and would love to hear some feed back
Damn. Those are some nice models my friend.
I enjoy the Khornate lord alot, really makes the Bloodfeeder look massive, without making himself look tiny.
Very Very Nice! What's meant to be on the back of the bloodthirster?
Vampire Counts Progress Log [W:2 D:1 L:1]
Damn! Everyone is slowly pushing me to strip all my old marines and make a pre-heracy army or somefink...
Those wolves are great and the bare-armed W.E. look amazing, great idea. I'm not sure what it is but the rune priest sees to be missing somethng for me, round the middle I think. Everything else is wonderful. Altough, the space wolf terminator conversion pack from FW is amazing, it is your choice.
Rep for you sir...
Now its looking like the all-plastic idea may pay off with the new SW stuff out in october. Am thinking I should get the guys finished and GSd but not paint them untill I get my hands on the new kits. Then I can do a bit of rework with the new extras and kit the termis out a bit more
Wow you have two very characterful and interesting armies playing out in one log. I love both elements of this log the loyal and the disloyal the Khornate marines are well posed and quite interesting. The Iron wolves are also well done. the plasticard work you have done fits with the theme and the combination of different plastics has combined to a very interesting looking army with a sound theme. I look forward to the progression of both armies and will continue to monitor this thread best of luck and keep up the inspiring work
Cheers to Skidmann.
I'm getting to work on the dreads this week but am hving troubel figuring out how to do what I want to do with just plastic bitz. If anyone has seen my Chaplain Dreadnaught on the Brain for Hire thread then you'll know what I mean. I want to the dreads to look like that but am restricted without metal bitz. Will have to go extra hard on the plasticard I guess.
I'll get some WIP shots of the dreads as soon as I have something to show.
Holy s**t! Your modelling skills are excellent, well done sir. Every one of those models looks just how i like them, big and savage!
I love the whole bare armed thing on your Khorne fellows, all the better for crazed swings of a double headed axe. And that termie lord looks awesome, savagery incarnate.
Wow, Im seeing daemon prince, juggernaut, bloodthirster, where did you get all the parts? It looks excellent i think, the head especially looks really good. (on your bloodthirster by the way)
Please give me a portion of your modelling skill. :p
Cheers for the feedback. The Thirster is made from the body, thieghs and top of the arms of an actual Bloodthirster kit, the bottom of the leags and forearms are off the Daemon Prince, hands and axes from the WHFB Doombull, head from the old Juggernaught, then just random spikes, chains and other bits. The back fur is GS (each 'hair' individually, PAINFUL) and the shoulder pad on the right arm is and ogre gut-plate. I plan to paint th gut-plate like a World Eaters icon.
I'll get the big boy finished when I'm back in a paining mood again. Which could be a while coz I finally got started in the Iron Wolves dreads last night, mmmm... chunky
