Im looking at making a Captain + Honour Guard for my Raven Gurad Army.
I was thinking of using the Space Marine Master of the Recuriuts, adding on some left of Terminator Lightning Claws.
And doing a similar thing to the Guard. however, does any one know if any of these models are metal / harder to convert than any other options? was also considering using a Space Marine Tyranid Veteran model, but again am unsure on the difficulty of converting these.
Im not overfully fussed on these im just under the impretion that this is standard practise for Captains.
If anyones knows of any better models please le me know.
Thank you for your help.

All of the really flash looking character/veteran models are going to be metal excpt for the platic commander frame. I be using that for your base model because your able to then pose him so much easier and add pparts you want rather than having to chop out parts you don't want.
The same for the command wing. Use basic assault marines as the base and just tool them up so they look like vets. Its a much easier way to create your own guys, cheaper and allows you to add what you want, where you want
Thanks for the tip, have just had a quick look at the plastic command box set, seems to be the best choise, and seems to come with loads of little extra bits that could be used with my current bit box.

Use the Black Templars or Dark Angels upagrade/veteran sprues. That way you can have plastic models that are easy to convert and have fancy stuff like cloaks/symbols all over them. Would give you much more control over what you do with the models.
also on a similar related topic,
looking through the options of the Command Squad, it seems you can make a Company Champion. But unless i have read it wrong this only seems to be benifical in the aspect of improves WS, + the combat shield. however if you decided to keep them all Veterans you could assign a Storm Shield which is better than the Combat Shield.
As my army is Raven Guard and very Assualt orienated was woundering what you guy sthought would be the best option, keeping all Veterans with Storm Shields or Dual lightning Claws or making one a Company Champion with Power Sword and Combat Shield?
+ thanks for the tips on Black Templar things, found some cool looking torsoes with robes on, and a great looking Green Angels power sword

The Company Champion has a 'Challenge' ability as well, which may be handy. Giving all veterans dual lightning claws is incredibly expensive, but if you really want to do it go for it. Just don't let them footslog, you'll be losing huge amounts of points to shooting.
It might be better to give him a Jump Pack and put him in with Assault Marines or Vanguard instead.
EDIT: The Limited edition of Captain Sicarius might be a good base model for your Captain:

I was under the impretion that the Veterans and Company Champion had to stay together and act as a squad, can they be split up and join other groups individually?
as such acting as sergeants for the squads they join?
Could a Company Champion become the Sergeant for a squad of assualt marines? or even just join up to them?
yeeeeaaah dual lightning claws soo adds up might mix it around with 50% hammers / claws / CCWs & 50% shooters
