Welcome to Librarium Online!
Yes, I realize I misspelled Emperor.
Well, I have tried a few of the tips for shading that have been provided to me, and am attempting to base my minis now.. I decided to do a test run on an unoccupied base in the event I need to fix something..
My fine lining still needs work, otherwise what do you think?
I went with medium gray Basalt and left the natural color of it, and went with green flock for a very short grass feel...
I am also wondering what color I should paint the rim of the base? I was thinking of Red, but then there is also green..
Anyway, here it is.
Yes, I know that I need to fill the gaps that are still there.. I think I might have gone too thin on the PVA.

They look good. I think the eagle heads and the standard top are good looking. Add some light grey to them to bring out the details, they are still a little flat looking. You could also add some stronger highlights to the sword to make it stand out more.
I don't like that gravel there. If left unpainted it will make the whole model look unfinished. Mix brown paint with water and use it to stain the rocks brown. One the water-paint is dry drybrush the gravel with light brown and bleached bone. It is best to cover the whole base with the gravel and then once it's painted dab small amounts of PVA on here and there and dip the models base into the grass to get the grass onto the base. Use graveyard earth to paint the rims of the bases. Graveyard earth is a very neutral colour and it will easily fit in with a gaming table. You could try balck if you don't like graveyard earth.
not too bad. very nice start but needs a little more detail.

I agree with Jammer. The details and edging you've done is very crisp and clear. But it still seems plain.
I'd recommend doing some writing and scrolls on those blank armor plates. Tossing in a couple Maltese Crosses and such. Just something to give the models character, they right now look like they just left the factory.
But again, the painting you've done is fantastic... now just add more.
Black Templar (W/D/L): 4/6/2
Dark Eldar (W/D/L): 4/1/0
Warriors of Chaos (W/D/L): 3/0/1
If I am understanding you correctly, you are suggesting that it would look best with small amounts of grass added on top of the gravel in places?
As to the details of the scrolls, etc.. I have not yet fully finished the models.. (they aren't clear coated yet...) I am still very crappy with any freehand painting, and do not wish to ruin them... So details will be forthcoming...
Once I get my army assembled into what I believe is a complete status, I will display them as such.. For now.. these are all still WiP.

Looks much better. But for the next bases add the grass in after you done the sand part. as it will look proper. OW but do the whole base sand first.
