Okay so as Im building up my collection of ravenwing battleforces. I will soon be assembling a space marine bike army. I love undead and thought a undead theme to my bike army would look good. I talked to a friend and he is about as against the idea as can be saying that it would be impossible for a loyalist marine to be anything like undead and remain loyal. I feel that LoTD are very close to undead marines and so the idea that there are loyalist rotting marines on bikes is not that far of a stretch. He then said it is more likely marines could be female then be undead. I know Proiteus did some undead ultramarines, though I think he using them under chaos marines rules. I would be running mine under codex:marines for their rules on bikers.

I see no problem with you running the loyalist list. For all we know it could be as simple as them simply being on the brink of space and are out of communications with Terra. However, even though there are so far and are rotting, they remain Loyal because they know that by doing the erm Cough: False: Cough emperors wishes they will be saved by him.
If that makes sense to you than I am glad because right now I am kinda tired and my grammer is swirling down the crapper.
Also, it is apparent that you have some incredible modeling skillz. Rep for you sir even if you stop this project with just that amazing looking model.
I am giving you two tired thumbs up to GO FOR IT!
The Great Plague meets The Devourer of The Galaxy. What does that make us?
Sorry for the confusion. The picture is a LoTD model. I was just linking it as I can't see undead marines is that far of a stretch from what GW already has in the LOTD fluff.
The Undieing Legion: A chapter of marines so fanatical that there very souls refuse to depart this universe until their task is done.

Just had another idea. How about adeptus mechanicus army with mix of necron parts/ torso and skulls to look like some mechanized riders on bikes and already the command squad in robes so would look pretty cool to me.
I don't want to say your friend is wrong, but i think he is.
I can think of atleast two times i have read fluff regarding undead marines.
First of course would be the Legion of the Damned, in the long ago times when the
metal LotD box sets were released and the they had there own army list the LotD were
believed to be marines that had come into contact with a warp contagion that destroys their sanity; as it progresses their bodies decay, but they grow in supernatural strength. Each Marine is rapidly approaching the moment when he will succumb to the contagion. Combat can initiate the final stages of the disease, in which the Marine reaches a peak in power and enters a berserker state. All ranks and companies were abolished, most of the chapter's officers were already dead and the remaining warriors were too few to make up a fully functioning chapter hierarchy. All brothers were to be equal before death - levelled by the certainty of their assured extinction. The warriors decided to expend their lives attacking enemies wherever they could be found. The disease had robbed them of their sanity, but not their loyalty.
And the second time is in a W.D article about Kill teams nemesis'.
One of the options was taking a ghost of a dead space marine. So i don't know the W.D number but it was about 3 years ago now.
But to answer your question then do it, it's your army after all. If your going to go to all the effort to buy, build and paint a good looking force then don't let anyone shout you down because they don't like it. And if they do just make sure your beat him in every game you play with yoru new army!
I look forward to seeing what you come up with, I always wanted to do a Legion of the Damned army myself. Maybe one day....
I AM BOOMER!
I also had a change in my list and the undead marines would not so much be represented so I am looking at an idea that will go with my current list. I think a mechanicus theme would look well and my bikers will look like the moto terminators well the troops will and the command squad and sgts will be in robes. I have had a few ideas that i wanted to try out with land speeder conversion so I will do that and then post the bikes and land speeders I come up with.
AdMech marines would be a cool idea, but I'd steer clear of using Necron parts. The idea of cutting up a box of warriors and using the parts in your marine army is a lot harder than it might sound.
Also, if you're not careful, it will wind up looking like Necrons or some race of robots wearing marine armour, not mechanical marines
