As a follow on from the last competition I've decided to make a mine for my promethium refinery. This will be the second in what will probably be a long line of scenery pieces around this theme. I aim to create a 3 sided box with the bottom part sealed off (the shaft), the second level a control room with some monitors and the top level a meshed floor surrounded by barbed wire. I'm not sure on details yet but I hope I can learn from my errors last time.
Pictures to follow.
Going to have a winch and chains disappearing down the hole?
Something like that. If I can get some cheap chain.
The cheap $2 bargain shops might have some junk jewelery that might to the trick!
Do you know any Ork players who havent used all of the wrecking balls from thier trukks?
Hmmm... maybe. The town where I live doesn't have any of those though. Its too posh,.
I might have to go on a raid somewhere.
Do you have weekend market days with crappy craft stalls, might be worth a look.
I found some chain eventually. however, I don't have enough time to really start this project, let alone come anywhere near finishing it. therefore its being put on hold until the next IC.
Nice work so far. I worked as an electrician in the coal mines before Thatcher closed them all, which would be similar to your Promethium mine. Any obscure info you might need i could probably supply. First, you dont want chain for your mineshaft. The "cage" was lowered up and down on steel ropes called "bonds". There would always be two cages side by side in the same shaft. As one went down, the other would come up. You also need another shaft for air circulation, but that could be "off table". Looking forward to seeing more of this. Rep for you for the model.
Jager bombs. Very efficient at wiping out friend or foe.
I would be tempted to put the building on 1 inch of polystyrene (bevel the edges) so you could dig out the mine shaft, paint it black to give the illusion of a big hole.
