Well time and time again we talk about painting and startegies, but i dont believe that we have brought this topic up.
What sets your army apart from the rest paint wise. And why did you choose it apart from the usual colour schemes for that army. What is your colour scheme and if you have a picture please do share it with us, even if its a link.
My Black Templars are just standard - black armour, white shoulderpads, red eyepieces, silver iconography. What sets them apart slightly are their silver weapons and shiny gloss coatings. Sorry, no pictures.

My Angels of Retribution uses a Black colour scheme with red and gold details. White helmets for the sergants... often mark 6 helmets for them also. And bleached bone robes.

My Tau are painted snot green inked with dark green ink and black and they look o.k
My Nightlords are painted in the same scheme as the GW ones, with a few differences.
Firstly they have blue helmet wings instead of red, it looks so much better, and less toy-ish.
Secondly they all have helmet faces drubrushed in iceblue and white, to bring out the details more and make them look a bit more scary.
Thirdly, I ink all the gold with dark green ink(yes I do! and it looks great, and not really green. It's a trick I picked up from an oooooold painting CSM guide by John Blance.
Also, all my characters and champions are helmetless, with white skin and long black hair. This is because I imagine the Night Lords to be a bit goth style. I need to get a camera to show you all..
Ave Dominus Nox!
what sets apart my cadians is the jungle camo they have (have you seen the camo schemes gw has given cadians they SUCK. espescially in the old codex! who would paint an army like that?) and the fact i use enamels also. my older platoon is black armor/boots dark angels green fatiges and helmut with black, brown, light green camo blotches thingys. and my new platoon is dark green(testors paint, god bless them) fatiges and catachan green armour with desert yellow blotches and highlighted with black. also, its that my cadian army doesnt really have a theme. when ever i play i always/usually get to fire off all of my tanks and kill something. its either my opponents dont "know'" who they're fighting or they forget that that leman russ has range 72in and no matter where u are my bassies gonna get u!! so by the time my infantry get into action the enemy army is already softend up, now i know this tactic isnt that great to follow all the time but i try to make sure even if i dont get first turn, that my tanks get to fire off shots before the enemy gets to close. and also that my army has some wicked ass convertions and i have little things hidden on each guardsmen to make them unique, like a made a little toothbrush for one because of a lost in space strip and my Lt. acctually has a MAD magazine issue rolled upin his back pocket. i just finished my commander and i like him alot because it mixes that guardsmen space marine thing. ill get pics soon!

I've started a flame falcons army, what sets them apart from other armies is the fact that they have green stuff flames sculpted on certain places in the armour, the main colour scheme is black (charred?) and then the flames are...flame coloured...er...
I have also got a kill team, after seeing the rules for them in the new rulebook, with all the things from a proper behind enemy lines team - comunications, token black guy, stealthy solid snake kinda guy, demolitions, and the guy who loves nature and god and stuff and doesn't want to be there but still kills loads of enemies and gets cut down in a hail of gunfire at the end of the film.
I'll post some pictures soon...
The only difference between tattooed people and non-tattooed people is that tattooed people are awesome and can kick your ass.
