hey guys could you give me some ideas of how i should go about giving a elf effect to my sisters of battle like text and ears? etc.
my mate refuses to help me saying its herocy. [ bad spelling sorry ]
I can see two options:
- cut off the heads and replace them with eldar/elf heads... that`s barbaric and also You won`t be able to redo it. I would not recommend it at all!
- green stuff... it can be unique, but can be difficult to work with. It also removabe. I would do it with GS, just roll a very very thin and short "snake", the end will be pointy as You make it, wait to get a bit cured, than cut it half to get two ears: one end point, one end not. After that just press one end to be flaty, than with a small wire You can make it a bit curly as an ear supposed to be. That is how I would do it if I want to but I think that is very long, not easy job.
Wait to cure a bit. Always keep Your fingers/working boarb (flat plastic board) wet.
And don`t forget to tell Your friend that everything is heresy that he can not do
ah okay thanks. im not that great with green stuff though i can do sleeves. had to re make a arm for a modle i got from a mate toke some time. will have to show on here . thanks for the advice. ill try and upload my 2 sobs ive painted still need to do the trimming or not i dont really no dont think they need it.
I had no other idea, and I am not good with the GS as I want to be Many things I know how to do, but my fingers just do not follow orders that`s the way of the Chaos I think.
the other thing that came into my mind is to make sisters from eldar or Dark eldar (they have the shoulder thing), but again, You will loose that is great in the SOB the small details like Inquisitorial sings, florettes (fleur de something) etc...
I like sisters but their prize puts me off. I think they are the best looking army in the whole range of 40K. Very gothic (and sick some non sororitas units).
So, I am sad that I could not help too much, but good luck anyway!
But You just gave me a good idea for a next project (when my two present will be finished)...
well your the only one so far to give me some advice so thank u heaps. do the images come up? i posted to pics of my sister serpereor and a sister. and as i said to my mate if all else fails there hair seems to be able to cover the ears so i can just clam that they are elvish. give them elf bases or something similar. found some nice models from the kador range and some other i forget ill upload the models [ pics later tonight ] but they have elf ears and found some nice models to use in my all girl army. a female vindicar sniper etc.
and btw what is the project ur going to do now?

I must confess, the pictures are a bit dodgy but I can't really see a lot different about them. What have you actually done to them? Unless those are just pictures of the painted Sisters without anything done to them. Personally I think the idea of replacing the heads was best, the only problem with that is that there aren't very many helmetless female Eldar/Elven heads to be had and the male ones look terrible.
there just to show what they look ike painted with no modification.
TO ADVOID CONFUSION THOSE PICTURES ARE NORMAL SOBS NO MODIFICATION!
not really into the whole chop shop of my models i do with some just for the parts.
I know you've already got some quite useful advice already, but looking at your painted sisters just makes me wonder about this idea.
I mean, obviously the sister with the helmet isn't so much an issue, unless you want to make it look as though her ears are coming out of holes in the side of the helm... rather impractical I would think.
But even the non-helmeted sister... her bob cut covers her ears quite well. I'm not sure if this would make it easier on you or not.
See, you could probably just get away with a tiny blob of greenstuff on the side of the head, emerging from beneath the hair. Shape it into a point, paint it skin coloured, and you more or less have an ear. It's just not very obvious, I guess.
As a small aside, I like the colour scheme so far!
In your first post, though, you mention "text" as something you want to add... what do you mean by this? Writing on the armour, or something?
yes darkstar. "text" i was wondering if any one knew how to write elvish text as in elven language. [ bad spelling ] on the armour or on there vericles or banners.
and also do u think i should try and do the trimiing or just leave it that way i like it. the reason the eyes are black is coz i suck at eyes =[
if any of that did not make one ounce of sence let me know
I don't actually know any elvish, but you might be able to find some images of Elvish runes (from Lord of the Rings, Warcraft, or some other well-known source of Elven stuff) and replicate that on shoulder pads or tanks or wherever it will fit. Words might be a bit of a stretch at such a small scale.
I think the greenstuff ears would be the best way to go, it's a lot simpler than lopping off heads, even if you have little to no experience you'll pick it up fairly quickly.
