This is my Unfinished Army.. Not including my 5 Assault troops in jump pose, or any of the Termies I will be getting. Still need to get scouts, bikes, and Speeders..
As it stands, All the standard troops except the bottom left squad are all magnetized.. I have Bolt Guns for all of them at the moment, and am in the process of getting assault bits.
Well the gravity of the situation has been that I have had them all pretty much cluttered together, and need to work on the edging to make them stand out... I organized them just now into a battle formation, and realized just how large the army is..
I have one more Land Raider that I wish to convert to accept all the differing Land Raider styles, and the rhino can easily be turned into a Razor Back.. I know that the painting on the rhino seems a bit thick... It is.. I painted that a long time ago, and have been refining my techniques thanks to the advice I have gotten here.
Anyway.. Thought I would share my long term project, that hopefully I can get a large chunk done before I leave for Kuwait in a month and a half.
I will post follow up pictures here as I progress.. Please wish me luck.

As someone who has an all-black army of Marines ranking in at about 3500pts, I say:
YOU CAN DO IT!
PAINT ALL~ NIGHT~ LONG!!
haha, the army looks pretty good right now, as far as a long shot of black paint can tell me. Edging will make them look top notch.
Army looks good so far. It's a lot of models, but when you just try and complete whole models and squads at a time, it goes faster.
What works for me is set a game with friends in an acceptable amount of time (like a week or two), and try and paint all the models you are going to use in that game before hand. Really gives me incentive.
Hope to see these baddies finished.
Black Templar (W/D/L): 4/6/2
Dark Eldar (W/D/L): 4/1/0
Warriors of Chaos (W/D/L): 3/0/1
It looks good for a start and I hope you have fun finishing them
BUT since my first army was Steel Legion Guard and I have recently decided to strip and repaint my Guard all 150+ Infantry and 10 ish tanks/walkers I don't have much sympathy for the small amount of Marines you have there
If you do things right people wont be sure if you have done anything at all.
150 infantry is a lot.. my problem is not the quantity... being 65 marines and 2 tanks.. but the fact that I will not be able to take them to Kuwait with me... month and a half before I leave to Kuwait, but about 2 weeks in between that I can't touch them..
Once I leave, it will be 14 months before I can touch them again.
why such a rush to paint them if you're leaving for over a year?
Looking good so far. Edging them will do wonders by bringing out some more detail. The thing I like to do, especially with troops, is just assembly line them and work through one at a time. If I don't have a lot of time in a given night I at least like to get one marine done a night. For example, if I'm edging them I'll do one or more if I have time a night, then the next and so on. Then on to metallics, purity seals, badges/icons, basing and so forth. This way I at least make some progress, albeit more slowly.

Ah yet another fellow templar, and one that shares the same feeling as me while im over here in iraq, though I will soon be with mine while you are leaving them. Either way, we both have a alot of painting. Let me tell you something, your army will grow while you are there, just by buying new units online, I know I have, so you will not only have what you got there, but more still awaiting to be put togeather. But once you get a system down as far as painting, things should be put out at a rather steady pace, just good luck with your army and your deployment!
"Brothers! You carry his word as the burning torch in your hearts! With that flame you shall walk into the darkness and we will destroy it!" Marshal Gorgon at the battle of Hive Kalwan
I appreciate the encouragement..
The reason I want to get them done is so that I can actually field them respectably when I return..
For those that are saying they look good so far.. The only figures that are complete is my Marshal, Champion, a Chapter master, the Techs, a Captain and a Rhino/Razorback. My Sword Brethren are close but not finished, the rest are all primed black, with a couple that need a touch up spray...
And all 40 of the troops still need the weapons completed, as well as the assault arms purchased to magnetize plus some extra heavy weapons for those touchy missions.
So here is what I am looking at as the composition for my Army..
Sword Brethren x 10
Initiates x 30 Customizable..
Initiates x 10 Non Customizable...
Initiates Jump Pose with assault Packs x 5 Non customizable...
Chapter Masters x 5
Black Templar Emperors Champion x 1...
Marshal Helbrect x 1...
Rhino x 1 Customizable to Razorback
Land Raider x 2
TechMarine with Servo-harness. x 1
Servitors x 4
All in all, not a bad looking army, but I got to thinking. It isn't large enough.. Yeah you all were right.
So here is what I am thinking of doing to beef it up.
Space Marine Attack Bike x 2 (customizable)
Space Marine Mega Force x 2
Land Speeder x 3
Initiates w/heavy Weapons x 10
Terminators x 10 (I want 30 but out of my price range right now)
Neophytes x 20
Land Raider Crusader x 2
Grimaldus and Retinue
Again, I will order enough extra bits so that all my Marines can have either a Bolt Gun, or Bolt Pistol and Close Combat Weapon. And enough Plasma Pistols to fill the squad allotments as well as Enough of each Heavy Weapon to fill the squad allotment. (ie 5 squads = 5 Rocket Launchers etc.) And am looking at a total of 40 jump packs that can be swapped out.
All my Rhinos will be able to be converted to either version of the Razorback, as well as a Predator. And The Land Raiders will be able to be switched to either Raider configuration.
Is there anything that anyone else can see that I might be overlooking?
