Welcome to Librarium Online!
Currently painting my newest inquisitor, with psycannon and was wandering what colour to do the sword, and other bits, majority of base colour is down, and cloaks and armor nearly finished.
Want colour for the sword and for the pipes and tubes on the psycannon, whole arm will be a warm white and gold armor, i was thinking dark blue for the pipes, no idea for the sword, anyway here's the pics.
To be honest its what your looking for. If you want the sword to stand out go with bright green, if you want it to not stand out go with dark colors like purple/blue. As i cant tell what you want becuase i dont have mind war, it will be you to decide.
yeah sorry should have been more specific..
i don't want the sword to stand out too much, so green is probably a no no, and i am useless with colour theory,
if you are going to suggest a colour, tell me what kind of mood of colour too, cus obviously I have quite a warm scheme going on with a LOT of brown in every colour, should i continue and have something like brown -> orange? or go for something cooler (colour hue wise, not "way cool man") ?
If you dont want the sword to stand out id go with a rich dark purple and build up to about the same lighness of your cape. Since purple is basicly red with blue they will go hand to hand with where people look. Also ytou can go to orange as its also part of red, so its which color youll prefer since its your mini
I agree. I think either a dark blue or purple would work real well here. Start with a purple then work up to a lighter purple with a light highlight of white to signify the blade crackling with energy. These same colors could go well with the hoses on the psycannon.
Awesome job so far.

hmmm I think you shold match the sword with the white arm, not saying that the sword shold be white. Maybe shade the arm with some blue or Grey/blue and use the same for the sword but start shading from a quite dark blue on the sword, maybe a bit darker then regal blue. Then go up to pure white, and keep quite a large area pure white. The arme Can bee pale and have a white feeling but just some subtitle shading with colour. Check my WIP for some examples of some swords, I will think about this some more...
thanks for the intelligent and useful responses, still have a while before I will tackle it anyway..
would prefer to keep the arm gold as i lurv painting gold and red, as per the model lolol, something does need to be done in a warm white on that side because i have the psycannon on one side, the banner in the middle and nothing that side..
what do you reckon to a sort of burnt orange up to white, mind putting up a link for your swords? i'll have a look around but i'm inept at using the internet
I like the sound of a deep orange, it has the same sort of tonal qualities as the gold and is not a contrasting colour to it. Working it up from black would look great.

This sword is painted black to codex grey to white. Then a few layers of enchanted blue glaze, really simple. I blended the colours, but it can be dun by layering, it also don have to be painted NMM. You can just use black closer to the handle grey in the middle and then use white at the edges.
This swor dis painted in a dark grey/blue, highlighted to white. Then a a few layers of enchanted blue glaze, and some cammo green glaze in the middle. At the end some purple glaze. This is a example of what glaze can do.
