I have just bought a Vindicator to convert into a predator as I feel the beefier front and sides suit the model way more than the rhino chassis with a gun on the top does...
However after realising that it can be done I'm wondering if I should just take the predator and turn it into a rhino and the vindicator into a rhino as well giving my 3k chaos army a 3rd and 4th rhino.
I believe this would be way more useful than the predator as I have only used it in a handful of games and its uses are limited in offensive power.
SO what do you fellows think? I have a defiler for high st low ap template and I know vindicators are highly prized for chaos armies, at least that's the message I get so what should I do?

To be honest. I don't have CSM but I got Black Templars and I have a friend with CSM and the Rhino is 50 points of junk. If you have 2 then I would go with a Pred with twin lascannons and 2 side Lascannons. Then build the Vindicator for mainly city fights and bunker assaults. Next get you self a very nice and useful Land Raider. I hope this helps.
I am an Indestructible master of War.
Rhinos are a nice cheap 35 for us chaos boys, as well as space marines if I'm not mistaken.
I run a lot of infantry as I have something like 60 marines in my list of models and I like to use them as much as I can.
Predator with lascannons isn't scary enough I believe I've never had a game where its killed anything but weak units I can't get through tanks with it even with 3 lascannons...
As for a land raider, I have one but they are so expensive for what they do and they are expensive kits.
1 word: magnets...
I bought myself a vindicator and magnetised the whole thing. since it comes with the extra side and top armour (which handily goes in the door gap at the top) its no problem.
Has saved me alot of problems.
I like to take the Rhino because it makes a squad of noise marines put out alot of damage due to them having lots of defense and still being able to put out alot of shots through the few firing points.
If anyone believes on telekinesis, raise my hand!!
I'm thinking the vindicator would be a good idea cos I want to get a 2nd defiler and with that it gives me 3 hard-hitting heavy supports that will each be a pain to knock out fast enough.
I may just make the vindicator up as is and turn the predator into a rhino incase I want to change later to three squads of marines in rhinos.
Duane, making the Vind armour work on a Pred is possible, I did it for my BT army a while ago. Yes its not easy but it can be done. The main issue is getting the sponsons on. I did this by cutting out the door hatch shapes in the Vind side armour. This will give you the same space as you would in the normal rhino sides. The Pred spondons should then be able to fit in this new gap and keet the extra armour.
This finished product isn;t as good as the FW extra armour kit you can get but it still look rather good and gives the effect of extra armour
I fixed that by just cutting the little "snapping" section off the inside of the armoured section so it doesn't need to go inside the doors anymore. I'm still so undecided as the predator is still weak in its offensive power compared to a st 10 ap2 cannon of death so I think I'm seriously opting for the vindicator anyway.
Here is my solution, won't work for everyone, especially after glue, but lucky for me I got into the habit of not over gluing sections like this so they only have two small dabs, so after thinking about it, it turned out to be a simple case of pulling the door covers out and gluing the heavy bolters to the top of them and they fit snuggly back into place, along with the rhino doors.
I now realise I should have gotten a few pictures of the rhino without the doors on to show what I mean but it's too late now, the camera took me about 5 minutes to turn on because I think it's screwed up somewhere inside.
Oh and a vindicator.
