Welcome to Librarium Online!
I realize the how-to on Farseer/Jetbike conversions has been discussed to death, but I was wondering (in accordance to GW rules, and with GTTs and RT's in mind) which would be the most viable way to create a Farseer on a Jetbike/Warlocks on Jetbikes?
Would it be permissible to use high elf models in conjunction with the Eldar jetbikes to have a tournament legal mounted-farseer?
Could one be made without using any parts from a farseer at all -or without using a jetbike?
Namely I was thinking of the method where the Farseer is placed on the back of a vyper. Would this be a tournament legal unit, and would I have to remove the guardian pilot?
I think your first idea of using High Elf riders on a jet bike wouild be the best and coolest way to do it. Never seen it done and it sounds pretty cool. Just get the mage on horse and chuck him on the bike instead, maybe give him a shurikan pistol to make him look more 40k but there you go.
Persoanlly I'd be cutting a farseer/warlock in half and pinning him to a jetbik-rider's legs then GSing the cloaks. As for the Farseer on Vyper platform, it yould be ok if you removed any weapons that the farseer couldn't have and let your opponent know that its infact a jetbike, not a vyper. Even in a tourni they have to be a bit slack to allow for cool conversions. If it were to look absolutly nothing like a farseer on bike then you'd be in trouble, but its gonna look like what it is so its fine.
Would using Eldrad on a jetbike be in adhereance to the WYSIWYG rule?
Since the jetbike is considered "wargear" and putting a farseer on one would constitute and upgrade... I just want to make sure my figures don't get discounted anywhere because isn't "really" a farseer...
The WYSIWYG rule was instated so people couldn't bring a basic marine to a tourni and say "actually he's a captain with terminator armour and lightning claws". The model your using to represent the rules your using has to atleast have a basic resemblence to the wargear/stats and have the wargear he's using shown on the figure. Concessions are allowed for stuff like auspex, greandes, mastercrafting, and other thngs that either can't be modeld or are not needed. In the case of your farseer the weapons options on both him and his bike must be shown (aswell as the actual bike, duh) and even then you can fashion these any way you like. I've seen a marine assault squad using teleporters instead of jump-packs, eldar riding dinosaurs instead of bikes, jeeps as sentinals and quadbikes as landspeeders. Generally if your opponent can figure out what it is you're ok.
As long as you make whatever you use look like a farseer you'll be alright. Eldrad would look really good on a bike and is definatly an obvious farseer model.
Basically if you put any guy in robes on the bike he is gonna stand out and look like a charcter of some sort. With a bit of embeleshment (if needed) he will look like a farseer/warlock and no-one can dispute that. Make sure the paint scheme helps him to stand out a bit too and you'll be set. I will very obviously be a farseer riding a jet-bike. Because GW also hasn't produced a model of this it makes it easier to do what you like with it and harder for people to say "thats not what the farseer on jet-bike looks like, blah blah blah"
Good luck. Would like to see what you come up with.
