WIP from a terminator from the space hulk set.
This model was the easiest to remove the not-insignificant amounts of blood angels iconography from out of all the termies in the box set.
Thoughts on the paint job so far, listened to some advice and tried working up and highlighting the yellow with sunburst + bleached bone or sunburst.
edit: For a sense of perspective, here's what it looks like as a Blood Angel with the iconography.

Very nice! Yellow is very tough to paint and you did a great job with it. Love the head with the "racing stripe" lol
Cant wait to see more.
Looks more like Howling Griffons than Imperial Fists but the yellow looks clean I agree. I don't like the eagle on the shoulder being red though, it doesn't tie in that well.
Prince - I've got 3rd company imperial fists, so the details are picked out in red rather than black. Also, spacey codex shows their eagles as red, so im just continuing with it.
I'm not saying the eagle is wrong, it just doesn't quite go with the rest of the mini in my opinion. Still looks nice overall. :]
It looks really good. The yellow definitely came out well.

Really nice yellow mate. I do think it could use another highlight though. I think the ones you have done are a tad too subtle. Might just be the photo though.
Also i'd recommend washing the metallics areas with badab black as they look a little flat at the moment. Particularily on the gun.
I'm guessing you haven't started on the black areas yet. The standard Codex Grey then Fortress Grey method should work quite a treat on it.
Good work overall mate, you've got alot of skill with the paintbrush.
Cheers and Repz
Add me! Let me know your forum name too! =)
The yellow looks great, but I don't really like the red. I think it is a little to flat to my liking. Maybe ad a few more layers or give it a little black wash?
Prince - I gave that eagle some thought today, and im thinking about making it the same as the crux in terms of colour. rep for you
Chirality- thanks, rep fpr you
Sknight - Yeah ive noticed that while the highlights might look like they blend well when about 10 cm away from your eye, they tend to lose the effect at arms length. Will go over it with some more sunburst and some bleached bone. Havent started on the gun much either, apart from the preliminary boltgun layer. still need the layer of chainmail and mithril for highlights before i wash it. rep for you.
Ruina - just getting the hang of red, been doing so much yellow lately that i havent been focused on that colour. suggestions for shading and highlighting? apart from scab and blazing. rep for you.
Well, I am not the best painter, but I will give it a try. I think that a way to improve it is to copy the dark to light transition you see in the last picture you provided us. Going from black, using slightly watered down paint (so that the previous has a smooth transition to the next layer) layering to brighter colours, finishing with a bright red. I don't know if that will work for sure, but I hope so. You can also paint watered down black so the paint goes into the cracks, bringing out the detail... Anyway, goodluck!
