So I frequent the site the Tyranid Hive and there was a thread of someone asking if there was an online gaunt painter and apparently there was but it is now nowhere to be found. I know especially with bug choices you can have some crazy color combinations, well this might save you some paint. See how it might look.
I spent last night working out the art, code and stuff for a Tyranid Hive online painter. Don't know how buggy it is, worked well enough for me. I just drew up a bug template and added some various colorable sections. Was more interested in actually getting all the actionscript worked out, I forgot how much I despise the flash UI
Click the link down at the bottom to go play around with some bug colors, I am hosting it on my website now see how that goes, its a pretty small file. Please post any thoughts or suggestions or cool color schemes. There is probably a way to save your screen image as a jpg if you want to save the way it looks, but I dont know how. There is probably a way I can code in a save as jpg into the flash file but its no written in now.
I am trying to figure out how to make swatches of all the GW paints or at least figure out a way to give a hexdecimal value so you guys can reproduce these colors outside of this thing.
You can type your hive fleet name into the part where it has "hive fleet yournamehere" so when you save it it will display your name along with your beautiful colors.
And in my OCD brain I started working on a new interface that caprtures the look and feel of an inquisitors tabletop, still converting all the code over to the new image. Made a data slate out of an old tv, using the map border from dark heresy until I design my own, and much eye candy. And changing the name of it to a field guide to the great devourer.

Wow, that works great man! I suggest someone stickies that to the Tyranid homepage because it is awesome! I just made the simple macrage scheme and it looks very nice.
The Great Plague meets The Devourer of The Galaxy. What does that make us?

Very useful tool. I see a Carnifex option to it although you need a code to access it, plus something else locked... wonder what other type will be introduced? I think you deserve some rep for this though!
the best part about this is the different highlight colors aswell as the sublte built in grey shading
rep for sure
You sir have won you some rep!
Well done... Cant wait for the 'Fex!
Sometimes the best defense is a good offense... Wait, what?
LOVE IT!!! really fun to have a play with and has given me a lot of new ideas for my new colour scheme =]
Seriously, this is an awesome tool my friend. Thank you for putting the time into making this. Rep for you sir. Definitely worth also posting in the Tyranid forum, I'm sure they'll love it.
