    Space Marine Color Scheme

Hey all i'm not to sure if this belongs here or in the painting section but I chose here! I'm having difficulty choosing a color scheme for my marines and I need all of your help. So here are the pics:

    Or...

The picture of the second one doesn't do it enough justice but oh well. The first was supposed to be a darker version of ultramarines and the second one is the raptors chapter. They both need touch ups and to be sprayed with sealer but i'm going to hold off until I come up with which one to choose. Also a couple pros and cons about each:

    first:
Pros: Easy to paint, not that many coats required.
    Cons: They are very dark.

    second:
Pros: More subtle highlight color (in person), a little more unique.
Cons: Took a medium amount of time to paint, shoulder pads require a bunch of coats of paint.

    Raptors

    The raptors are defenitely better

and to get around the shoulder pad thing, use foundation paints.
they'll do it in one or two coats.

    hope that helped.

None is "definitely better" as every has his own oppinion imho

I like the "dark ultramarines" scheme, they look like angry evil ultras
Maybe some gold in addition to get a little color into it (maybe already the lines on the shoulder pads alone could do it).

I don't like that bone-color scheme, that's why I don't play Dark Angels (else their models are awesome, but I hate their terminators) ... so the raptors are not a color scheme I like very much. But that's up to you to decide

Alright first thank you two for responding so quickly! I hope more people will voice their opinion because i'm still kinda stuck. I know one of them isn't "better" I meant that which one appealed to you more? Also which foundation paint helps the most with bleached bone?

Dheneb Stone foundation paint will help you with the shoulder pad.
As for the colour schemes it might help if you imagine what each space marine unit would look like if painted either way. What I mean is how would a land raider look, a land speeder, dreadnought, scouts, or whatever if painted either way. And imagine which would look better when deployed all together as a force.

For me it also depends on what colour terrain you would most likely be fighting on, white/snow, green/grass, brown/desert etc. That might be a good factor to consider.

Also what armies are you most likely to be playing against? If you have friends who you know you will be fighting against on a regular basis, what colour schemes do they use? No matter if they are tyranids, eldar, chaos. Just consider if you want your army to contrast against theres or not. For example, if you know you are going to be fighting against say Dark Angels, Biel Tan eldar, or dark green Tyranids - you may want to contrast against that and go with your blue idea.

    *Punts to painting*

The raptors colour scheme is quiet nice. Take a little more care with your rhino, the door has some rogue colours on it.

It has been touched by the emperor though, can't you see his fingerprint?
