Progress has been made since last time, thanks for all the advice on how I should colour the sword, went from orange thru yellow to white... think the blending looks ok, even if the line highlight is a little wobbly..
Anyway what do people think, next on my list is doing the purity seals and the chest eagle but might wait till daytime ?
The colours look brilliant. its very hard to comment on your blending etc due to the picture quality though.
I do think the white line on the middle of the sword is a bit over the top though. I'd take a light yellow/orange if anything
What kind of camera are you using? if its a basic digital camera then you should try setting it to macro mode.
Until then i cant make a informed decision...
Sometimes the best defense is a good offense... Wait, what?
yeah sorry will try and get a better picture tomorrow in the sunlight, camera is really annoying me at the moment, think im gonna have to take from firther back and just crop it, and thanks for the compliment about the colours..
edit: its a digi and it does have macro on, but hates getting that close still, v annoying
On most cameras, Macro has a fixed focal length. Usually it's about 10 inches away. Play around with the positioning of your camera and crop the photo if needed. Resolution isn't all that important when your posting pics online.
And over there we have the labyrinth guards.
One always lies, one always tells the truth, and one stabs people who ask tricky questions.
Looks pretty good. The sword looks really cool. I'd be very interested in seeing it in better focus. How'd you do it if you don't mind me asking?

Salamander project log
about 7 layers on the top part only 3 on the bottom
top started with hot orange (vallejo) -> gold yellow with midtone -> sun yellow with midtone -> badmoon yellow again with midtone -> white with midtone again ( thats nine actually)
bottom is a base of hot orange and khaki about 1:1 going to hot orange and to the half half mix of hot orange and gold yellow from before
had to basecoat first khemri then khaki to get orange to look good
hope that helped...
my fave bit is still the robes, thraka green washed over red ROCKS, be warned glaze after with a red otherwise it looks odd
any ideas on what to do with the banner, was thinking of just using a transfer, but any (easy) freehand suggestions would be nice
figured out the problem with the camera, i was lighting from directly above and it was seeing the object as too dark so held the aperature open too long, and i got shaky ass hands....
anyway, now sorted, painted a little more and got rid of the white line in the middle, as i agree that it was a little too extreme
first successful eye since i started painting again, woohoo
Looks great, the cloak needs a matt finish I think though, and a littler design on the banner wouldl ook great, but im guessing thats for later since its WiP
