I was just wondering if there are any good samurai models that I could convert into tau (and please none of the using a sheild generator as a hat. Nobody seems to realise that the guys with the hats are from the water caste! I'd prefer if the model was wearing armour, but any nice detailed samurai would be awesome!
Don't look now... But there's one man too many in this room and I think it's you.

In the games-workshop range (The ENTIRE thing) there are no samurai models.
So...tough luck I guess.
If a tree falls in the forest, and it lands on a mime, does anyone care?
one of the Necromunda redemptionist models has one of those samurai masks.
I wouldn't try samurai Tau but Japanese IG would be good with mordians [think The Last Samurai] or preatorians [WWII] painted with white uniforms and oriental skin and Japanese flags as normal infantry. Conscripts or jungle fighter platoons would be catachans with sculpted oriental hats [VC style] and an oriental paintjob. Then commissars would be samurai [difficult to do], that necromunda mask and some WHFB body with a katana made from cut sprue.
Check out the following two games.
Warzone: has a great line of Samurai type sci-fi type minis. Complete with guns and swords, etc...
Clan War: mostly old style samurai figs, but the armor detail is not bad. Would require som converting to do the lasguns though.
"Every day above ground is a good day"
"Sometimes I feel like the winner in the Aztec Lucky Virgin contest"
I don't think the samurai theme will fit well into 40k...
Only place I can imagine them is maybe as some sort of honor guard for certain IG regiments.

i don't know if anyone has heard if these, but a while back there was a book series from WOTC called "Legend of the Five Rings" in layman's terms Warhammer in an Asian setting.
a company called AEG made a miniature game of it caled Clan War and if you're extremely lucky you might, and i repeat might, find some in a bargain bin or something to that effect
the reason why is because it got released when WHFB and 40k were getting amazingly popular and they even came up with a slogan that said "I got your warhammer right here" or something. it pretty much went down like a lead balloon covered in fat people.
i can post a pic if you want.
Pain is life, while I feel pain I still live, and while I still live I will seek vengance. We are few but strong in will
The last with pagan blood
We fought the world with burning steel
Now we sit in Hall of Gods
Oh man, I had totally forgotten about that old slogan. I'm not sure now if that was a Clan War slogan or not, though.
Actually, Clan War was a good game mechanics wise. It played very well and was a lot of fun, but the models weren't anywhere near as good as 40k.
They are thinking of making a samuri theme based army for fantisy but dunno how long it will take to make tho...
