I want to give all my 'important' Eldar models a banner of some sort in order to make them more ornate than usual.
Essentially, I want to design the banners on a computer and print them out onto some cloth-like material. I am sure this has been done, but I cannot find any examples of this.
I recall a White Dwarf showcasing several Golden Demon entries where one of the winners made a set of models on Flying Carpets where the carpets were printed out onto a cloth and then 'hardened' with glue or starch or something.
Before I go shoving standard cloth into my computer's printer, I ask - is there any place I can look for advice on printing onto a rather stiff-ish cloth and then stiffening it further in order to make the banner/flag wave in the 'wind'? Are there pictures of this anywhere? I tried Google and such and all I found were sites explaining either clothing design or kids' crafts.
you're better off printing it on paper, soaking it in water/pva mixture then sticking it in the position you want and letting it dry
otherwise you can use iron on transfers OR check if "Avery" has any printable cloth, im pretty sure they do
Just make sure you print the bleed so it's way colorful.
as far as making it blow in the wind i would soak some stretegic parts in a glue and pin them the way you want until it dries

I guess Water + PVA glue seems to be a universally sound way to stiffen both cloth and thick paper into position. I thought I was going to need a very specific combination of material and 'glue' to make this.
However, what do you mean by "print the bleed"?
Thank you both.
I'm going to go out and look at Office Depot for any Avery printable cloth or, failing that, textured resume paper.
Ive found a great way to get detailed designs onto modeling surfaces is to use permanent felt technical pens: simply draw/write your design onto the base color.
Just experiment first with what pens bleed, and what dont.
I use this technique for writing on vehicles and platoon/company banners.
