I want to upgrade all of my Dreadnoughts to have extra armor, but I can't think of a way of modelling this without it looking dumb... I was thinking that using some sort of shield wouldn't look too bad, but I can't find a shield type piece that would work and I am not a very good modeller. I play Dark Angels so most Chaos bits won't work, the best option I have so far is the hurricane-bolter shield from the Landraider Crusader, but I am still unsure of it.
What do you use for extra armor on your Dreds? Pics would be great as well. Thanks a lot!
I use the archive Ablative (sp) armor. I believe you can find the bits in the 40k archive section. This is the old extra armor for the classic rhino and it works great for dreads. With some minor cutting and clipping the plates can drape over the top and down the front sides of the dread.
Furioso dread w/ extra armor
The Purity seal comes from an Epic titan accessory.
Are you sure that pic is just a furioso with extra armor? I think it may just be the Moriar the Chosen model
Tact is for people who give a damn. I'm not one of those people.
Buy metal or plastic tank treads from the archive (I think the Baal has extra armor in the form of treads as well, dunno for sure). Paste to all flat surfaces.
I've never seen the Moriar the Chosen model, but it looks like he took the claws from an Ork Dreadnought or the claws from Yarrick to make that conversion. Either way, assuming it's a conv, and not a kit, it's really nice looking .
As for the extra armor. I'd have to go with buying the plates for rhino armor, or perhaps even using, as someone said, the tank treads.
"Can you put that in a memo and title it '***** I already know!'"
Church: "Ok, so we're agreed? You first!"
Sarge: "Get on with it, Griff."
Griff: "I'd just like everyone to know: that I suck."
Griff: "And that I'm a girl..."
Church: "What else?"
Griff: "And I like ribbons in my hair, and I want to kiss all the boys."
Sarge: "This has to be the best surrender of all time."
I've seen conversions using the dozer blade from the new Rhino boxed set which is set on either side of the Sarcophogus. I'd possibly be able to explain it better with a pic in front of me, but if you get your hands on a dozer blade, it may give you a better idea.
