Hey guys, so this is my first attempt at building some 40k terrain and I just started it relatively recently. So far I have a bunker (with removable roof) made with guidance from the miniwargaming video.
I want to dress it up a bit by adding some sandbags on the roof with a ladder that will lead to the roof. I've also made an attempt at making it look as if dirt is built up around the outside of the bunker.
The path leading out of the door is going to be a small trench system (with dirt built up on either side of the shown walls) which will lead to an open entrenchment area (rectangular open area).
I'd like to make the open entrenched area look like it was hit by missile or something. I haven't decided exactly how I'm going to do that yet.
I'll try to keep this updated as frequently as I can (I am a student in my 4th year university so I'll try my best).
Any suggestions or comments are very welcome.
Looks mighty fine sofar. I'm going to turn my hands to sceanery building soon (new job on monday I hope so funds inbound!)
Only think I'd add in would be for my own tastes but if you get a cerial box and cut out the cardboard into arches and such like and then stick it on it will look a bit more 'real'.
Keep it up though
I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand
Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm.
I like it alot especially for a first try. Only thing I would crtique is make the roof a little smaller. Looks really thick for a bunker. But I don know your plans for it either.
Looks good so far, I do think the top is out of scale, you could cut in a sniper/spotter position or something like that.
Something to think about, the "rocks" around the base, if a mini cant stand on it then it might be a problem, trying to design stuff to be cool and game friendly is a pain!!
Ya I agree the top is out of scale, I'm going to cut it down a bit to make it fit better.
First of all I'd just like to say thanks for the comments, they've been helpful and it's nice to hear I'm on the right track.
So this update isn't much but I've made the open entrenchment area (decided not to make it blown up) and made all of the "dirt" that's built up around it to make it look like a trench.
Next step is going to be using green stuff to fill in the seams, etc. to make everything join together nicely. I'd like to get those sandbags up on the roof also.
After that I'll probably start to add stuff like ladders (might use sprues for ladders) and so other random bitz to make things look nice.
I've also cut the roof down to size (I think it looks better now).
Keep the comments coming and I'll try to keep the updates coming!
make sure it is covered in bullets around the viewing ports (is that the right term?) because thats where people tend to aim at these things.
But it does look very good so far.
cudos on the name
I think you should consider taking wire and making barbed wire sections around trench, and the bunker needs more then 2 viewports. If you have any you should add ammo box or 2 in trench or bunker for looks

Actually a very good idea from the above post... Some sort of anti infantry and anti tank device like barbed wire and tank traps or those big metal crosses from d-day would be perfect for this. Also rubble and dirt and equipment inside the actual trench itself.
