Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.
Voor alle nederlanders:
The Dutch Legion
admittadly its a poor way of asking the question but yours was equally a poor way of answering it, theres no need to be to bitchy is there? try being nice to people it makes the world a better place
i rock my world
I think I agree with 2nd poster... It depends what kind of terrain he wants. static or module'd and a bunch of other things.
If you want a quick ay to make a lot of city terrain, especially if you are happy with a couple of coats of spray paint, a wash and a dry brush, then yes I'd say its worth it. Obviously if you have the spare time and inclination to make from scratch you can make nicer, more unique terrain cheaper, but thats quite a commitment.
You said you wanted to use it for a large apocalypse planet strike game. For that it may be ok, but if you were doing an apocalypse city fight game you may need more. The box set does not really give you enough for a nice cramped board for a normal size game, let alone a larger apoc board, but then like you said, you want planet strike so you probably need a bit of space.
The biggest issu I always have for using these as scatter terrain, especially on a green board is the lack of all the other things that make an urban area look urban, road, pavements, street furniture, burnt out vehicles, rubbish bins. MOst o those you can make yourself or paint on your board, but again its more time and takes away from the freedom of scatter terrain.
If you are feeling rich combine that set with a couple of bastions and you'll do well. If/when you have more time to make your own you can fill it out.
I was thinking of getting a second ROB board to make Apocalypse size and a little spacious.
Thanks for your replies so far.
Well I agree with Zema and from what I know, Username 1 has more money than sense.
ROB - 146.80
IWZ - 421.25
Stupid DH army you proposed the other month - several hundred quid
Ok ok, go spend well over a grand on those items. GW terrain is good but fails on price (what else is new) but that table is shocking! I had a thread on it when it first came out and the most we could agree on is the fact that you get INSIDE POCKETS (TM)!!!!!! For that reason alone its worth the money surely? .......

I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand
Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm.
Phoenix lord, your post was pointless; 1st i asked was it worth it? 2nd i haven't posted a DH since July (wasn't that month a disaster)! Think before you post maybe?
You forgot the part about the board taking about 30 minutes to assemble and paint to a gaming standard as opposed to making a styrofoam POS that took hours to make. Maybe some people would have a high quality board but can't put the time or effort into making one? $300 bucks is not all the money in the world, you can spend that much on dinner,
Mine ROB was a christmas present, so the money was not as important. I'd never considered getting it, but since I barely have the time to paint my army or make a few simple bits of terrain that table was a boon. It turned my 3'x5' table into a 4'x6' one, it took about 20 mins to spray paint, it stores away in a reasonably small bag without any risk of denting and damaging soft foam. I like it and the time it saves and convenience it gives would have made me happy to have given up a load of other luxuries to buy it.
Depends on your lifestyle.
If you have lots of skill, time and space to 'spend' on your gaming then build your own board and scenery.
If you have lots of money to spend on your scenery then buy pre made boards and scenery
Neither is wrong, or 'better'. Most people will do something in between (by scenery is almost all home made, my board GW, my mate has the other way round) they are just different approaches to a hobby that is known for its diversity.
