Following on from my thread in the modeling section titled 'Space Marine Markers', I now have painted my wounded SM, aswell as converting and painted another less fortunate one.
Overall I'm happy with how they've both turned out, though I'm a little unsure about the gore effects, as I went straight into it for the first time on the models themselves, I'm not sure whether or not it looks a tad OTT.
The Imperial Fist
I chose the two chapters I did, just because theres a member of staff that used to work at my local GW (he works at head office at WW now though) who has a IF army. And the Ultramarine...well, who doesn't want to see a dead Ultramarine?
I can't get over these being made out of $10 worth of models.
I hate games workshop.
As far as the painting though, it looks great.
they charge so much for something that doesn't really cost that much.
it's just like energy drinks. people pay a lot for it thus.. they continue to charge a lot for it
Those two are good, they will make your games more fun now that you have themed objectives. I like the Imperial fist one, the big cuts on him look like they hurt.
I love the markers - nice and basic, but very good looking.
These look quite cool. I like the Ultramarine. However, this is more a comment on my aesthetic tastes, the blood is too much. Its over too much of the mini and doesn't look right. That's just my view on blood on minis in general, I get why you used it etc. They'll make ideal markers.
Thanks for the comments guys, I know that at the end of the day the only person who need to like your model is you, but when others like it also, its an added bonus
I think the paint on the Imperial fist is a bit think, Also the cuts in the armour would have gone deep enough to to draw blood. The blood looks to over done just being paint strait red like that.
The way the UM is lying looks all right, maybe a bit flat and I not quit sure where his right is. The paint dose look a lot thinner then the Imperial fist.
This is the way that I have done blood before on some blood bowl models, I used Tamiya Color Acrylic Clear Red X-27. It has a very sticky (blood on the pub floor) consistency and when you drop some on the desired place it will self leave to some effect and give you a real fresh blood look.
All in all I like them I was just giving you my two cents on what will help you improve your skills in the future.
