This is the sketch of my Captain for my White Scars successor chapter. The fluff for them is still a wip, but basically they will be very tribal African inspired. I have a lot of work to do on the fluff though, (I'm an artist, not writer). Anywho, here is Brotha-Captain N'thanda of the Panther Lords.
And the clour scheme:
Wicked stuff! I love your drawing. Have some rep! Any chance of seeing any other drawings from you?
As for the concept, love that as well. Never seen a tribal-inspired SM army, that's for sure. Looks like there will be a lot of conversion and GS'ing to do, but I can't wait to see some results!
Prepare to get a lot of time in on some greenstuff, though. I think I have seen some of your work already on this Chapter over at Dakka, so I think it will be rather nice when completed.
I'm with Camel on this. The tribal theme is underused in 40K, it could work out very well - but only if done properly. I like the scheme you have planned out, its different and stands out quite well. I'd love to see an army like this. The concept art also looks really good, well done.
@Oldhat: I do have the 1st "actual" conversion for this army over there. The army concept has changed a bit since I did him up. So I wound up reworkings him(no piccys yet). So here is the 1st version of what will be my Chapter Master.(That you've already seen, Oldhat)
His entire pose has been changed, to give more of a "hero's stature", also he will be the only model in the army not on his bike when I'm done(more of a display piece).
I like, but you know what? I had a similar concept oh, roughly 15 years ago :-) when the first lot of Space Wolves minis came out.... Though called them the Storm Leopards chapter (which then evolved into the Storm Leopard Eldar aspect instead..)

Really like what you've got going for this army, should turn out to be a great looking force. The concept art and colour scheme are great too.
I have a sugestion for some bitz that I've stumbled across recently. When trying to make a Cyberwolf from a High Elf White Lion Chariot I noticed that the Lion head, if scooped out sufficiently, would make an awesome terminator pad (or bike faring in your case) and also that the lion-head shoulder pads off the charioteers fit really well as Marine pads. Was thinking of incorporating this into my Space Wolves army but I think It'd work a hell of a lot better on your theme. When on a pad they should look just like what you have on your concept drawing and model.
I think they should be easy to order off a bitz site. Good luck and will deffinatly be following this thread.
Glad you guys like it.
@kithre: Ironically, I thought about this theme with Eldar years ago also, but I couldn't get the imagery the way I wanted. And with thier level of tech, the concept didn't seem quite right to me.
@Power Hungry Monkey: Thanks, I'd been trying to remember which kit had those heads in it. That will save me some serious sculpting.
@danjones87: I feel you on the colours. So last night I searched out some pics of panthers, and found this:
If I can get the highlights right, THAT is the colour armour I'll go for, something like:
Although, instead of the Leopard skins, I'm thinking of do Kente patterns on their tabards(like the concept pic)
Well apparently you are no beginner when it comes to green stuff because that guy looks really cool! I can't wait to see more of this force.
