    Tyranid scenic base question.

Hello. I have a question I am working on a Scythed Hierodule which has a large base. I am thinking of several ideas for it but I can't settle on one idea. Can you please vote and tell me what you think.

The first idea is a battlefield covered in wreckage. I would use bits of broken machines, guns a few skulls etc to show the place is a mess. I think this base would look good and fit in with the Hierodule being a big destroyer of things in general. But i think that it isn't entirely new or different, but it has the advantage of not ever looking out of place.

The second idea is to do the base like a graveyard that the Hierodule is trampling through. I thought it would be fun to do tombstones, bones and other things that are often found in graveyards. I think it would show the Hierodule is an invader as it tramples through the place of rest and will be more unusual. There is also the fun of creating the look of a graveyard, paths, tombs etc. I think I favour the graveyard but I'm not sure, I fear it might be a little too odd.

The third idea, I don't know what it is. Post any ideas you think I could try.

Please tell me what you think. Thanks for your help.

I would suggest a battlefield type base but one that has obviously been scarred by the heirodule. So clawprints, smooshed foes and broken buildings aplenty sounds good.

I say an invaded planet, being overrun by alien plants and organisims. Stuff like the little bits of terrain in the battle for maccarge. mabey a few dead marines/gaurd.

    have fun!

I went with the battlefield as I felt the graveyard is a bit too much. But it is only my opinion, If You prefered the graveyard, just go with it! Very good idea!

I like DDW's idea of an infected planet. Maybe have tides of rippers and gaunts swaming between the big beastie's legs

Thanks everybody, this is helpful. I can see the idea of a battlefield but the graveyard is different. So I'm still a bit confused, like 50/50.

That is a good idea that I like doing. I would certainly go with an infected planet but my Barbed Hierodule got there first. It has a big Tyranid swamp under it's feet, to ages to get the water effects all done. However I think the battlefield or graveyard may have signs of Tyranid infestation, that is aside from the Hierodule crushing all in it's path anyway. Huge bugs do tend to give the game away.

Please vote more and help the poor Hierodule get it's base.

Definitely graveyard theme. Battlefield theme ain't bad its just they're common to see.

Graveyard on the other hand may give more emotion.

Or just do both, a scarred battlefield base with many dead bodies

Ok thankyou. I think I'm moving towards the graveyard now. I will have to think about how it will be done. I have lots of spare tombstones from the undead sprues so they will be handy. I think I may make a path out of slate and maybe include a small fence. Some dead bodies and bones will be an obvious feature.

Does anybody have any ideas about what else could be done? Or do you think it's a horribel idea?

Thaks again to all your input.

Make it look like a hastily made graveyard on a battle beild (like 2 boards in a cross for gravestones). That way you get the graveyard, but it fits with what I assume is your other Tyranid's base theme
