    GW Midnight Blue Equivalent?

    Hi Folks,

I have a Tau force that I have painted with Citadel GW paints, Enchanted Blue for most of it, but with the minor color being Citadel GW Midnight Blue. Apparently GW just took Midnight Blue out of their lineup.

I am looking for a reasonably near equivalent color in another paint line, say Reaper, or any other line. I don't care about flat/gloss as I Future/flat everything anyway.

Citadel GW Regal Blue doesn't cut it, and I tried mixing my own and that came out horrible.

Please let me know of anything you experts might know of that is close.

    Thanks in advance!

I sincerely hope it's not permanently gone, it's the base colour for all of my High Elves!

Go to hobby stores that carry Citadel products that isnt a GW..They usually have lots of the older paints laying around - that how I get my supply of blue ink and tentacle pink.

If all fails, mix your own!

Unfortunately GW has removed a few paints from their line, eg. Midnight Blue. There is a new foundation colour that is quite close to midnight blue. It's called Necron Abyss. I'm not 100% sure but it's a very dark blue colour.
If it doesnt match, you'll have to mix up your own or try Vallejo or P3 paints, i'm sure they'll have an equivalent to it.

    Cheers

I cannot think of a color that matches well to Mightnight Blue, but you may want to check out Color Match 1.0

They compare dozens of paint lines with associated RGB values and may be able to steer you in the right direction.

Everyone needs to keep this bookmarked, it is a fantastic chart.

DakkaDakka - Articles - Paint Range Compatibility Chart

Also from that chart they say that the Vallejo Game Colour paint (Paints designed to be the equivalents of the GW paints) that is equivalent is Night Blue (Paint No. 19).

There are other alternatives on that chart as well if you are unable to get Vallejo paints.

    Hopefully that helps you out.

While you're at it, there's this thread (Clicky!)

    EDIT: To answer the OP:

VGC Night Blue #019 = VMC Dark Blue #930 = Cit. Midnight Blue

Using the Color Match 1.0 site I found that Liquitex Soft Body - 314 Phthalocyanine Blue (Red Shade) is very close to GW Midnight Blue.
