I wanna convert my IG Chimera to make it look really cool, since its the center-piece of my army it should stand out, but I don't know what to do to it. I've already stuck loads of crap from the vehicle accesory sprue on it but it needs something more, could anyone help out or suggest anything??
MAybe battle damage? Perhaps the tank is the center of your force because its been in service the longest.
Perhaps it belongs to an armored first squad who are superstitious and wont go into battle without it (so its been through countless battles, might look a bit beat up but its tried and true!
If its for a command squad, maybe you could but a banner on it somehow?
Maybe get a Chimera autocannon turret (or make one yourself) for a little different look to help it stand out.
Im assuming you already have it painted, but if not then a striking camo scheme is probably what makes tanks stand out (or blend in ) the most.
EDIT: I just remember theres some cool "classic line" Leman Russ Exterminator bits that you can order from GW. One of them is an (older style but still cool) looking soldier in a sitting on the tank pose, holding a lasgun (I believe the bit is called "Catachan Tank Crew" but the GW website pic wont load for it). Might look pretty cool. Also, if you use a stormbolter or stubber on top, a crazed gunner blazing away out of the top hatch is always a nice touch.
I am the Aquila-Guerilla!
Base it on your army fluff, if your army is devout you could have a crucified skeleton with 'HERETIC' writen on it. A big flag would look nice. My chimeras have the hatches painted as red, white and black =I= flags and it really stands out well against the grey and black camo.
mount it on a base preferebly climbing out of a shallow crater so that the front of the chimera is slightly off the horrizontal position this in itself will make it stand out, you could also add short pieces of chain to the flanks to act as extra armour for your tracks but youll need a fair bit of link to do it & you'll have to have a piece of link running the length of the hull with all the other short links attached to it I know a fairly soul destroying task but hey the effect is well worth it
WARMASTER of the SCHOLA PROGENIUM Alnwick Chapter (soon to be the world)
Hey those ideas sound cool, it is infact for my converted Armoured Fist Squad so I may well put some battle damage onto it. Whilst we're on the subject I was thinking about painting a tank with lots of sections in different colours, as my army is a garrison force it would make sense for them to repair tanks with left overs from others. Kind of a scrap machine pieced together by the Engineering officer.
Any thoughts on this?
