I want to try and use an airbrush to basecoat my eldar dire avengers. I have used the airbrush (Iwata eclipse) to paint tanks using tamiya paint with tamiya thinner and have had good results. Not much success with GW paints -- clogs up a lot for me.
Now, I want to try the airbrush to basecoat infantry and want to use tamiya for basecoat. Question, is Tamiya paint compatible with GW? Meaning, can I layer GW paint over Tamiya paint without the Tamiya paint peeling off or worse?
Thanks much for any information!
yes that should be no problem, I have used tamaya spray as basecout and then used gw paints over, no problem. It can be a problem to mix paint if you use a water base colour as a base and then use some colour that's thinned with some other type of thinner (dont know the names in English, like acetone and stuffs like that). In my experience water based paint never ruin the basecout.
Keep the paint diluted and thin :)
(first rule in Zentradis book of painting)
I'll second that. Never had a problem with Tamaya spray enamels as a base for Acrylics.
