Alright so i'm starting a Necron army this year and i have my codex 12 warriors Necron lord with resurrection orb and three scarab swarms. I was looking at color schemes in the codex and found one that really appealed to me. It's on page 42 under the ceramic sections. It shows a really cool Necron that it says has a base coat of chaos black and highlighted with space wolves grey. I have a pretty good base coat of chaos black down and when i put my space wolve grey on it doesn't look good. You can still kind of see the black.
How many coats of the highlight color should i put on?
Also what is the best color for a resurrection orb?
If you could post a picture of the color scheme you are talking that would be really helpfull because I don't have that codex. Also if you could take a picture of your own paintjob that would be awesome. It's so much easier to help you if you give us some pictures.
I'll try to help you anyways and I hope I understand you correctly. You want the armor to be in Chaos Black and highlight it with Space Wolves Grey? I would start to highlight with a mix with Chaos Black and Shadow Grey, then highlight with Shadow Grey, then highlight with a mix of Shadow Grey and Space Wolves Grey and at las highlight with Space Wolves Grey.
If you don't want to go that far then just highlight with Shadow Grey and then with Space Wolves Grey. Remember to keep your paint thin and your hand steady.
I think that a resurrection orb could be done many ways. They are probably some shade of green as glowy green is the Necron mascot colour. You could try to apint it dark angels green and highlight it with lighter shades of green painted like lightnig or crackly energy. Another way would be to mix some green and silver together and paint it that colour to make it seem strange and Necron-like.
