after many months of forced absence from the hallowed halls of LO (finishing a phD does weird things to life, both real and hobby related!) I have decided to ease myself back into my comfy LO painting forum ass groove with a little thread about my bloodbowl team WiP.
A couple of years ago I picked up the new (at the time) human bloodbowl team simply because I thought the mini's were great. I am currently hoping to get a few games of bloodbowl in so I decided it was time to throw a lick of paint on these minis.
The background I am working on is that the team is from the province of Hochland, most famous for the hunting rifle and the quality of their huntsmen, therefore I hit upon the team name. I have decided on the colour scheme of green and white for a couple of reasons firstly green is promient colour within the Hochland background, and secondly green and white is the colours of my local GAA club and county team, so I have an affinity for the colours.
Onto early WiP pictures!
To add an extra bit of muscle to the team, I did some converting of an Ogre Bull, by removing the belly plate and resculpting a helmet and stomach. I added metal arms from the the Orge Tyrant to add even more bulk to the mini.
So as you can see some very early WiP, all that I have done is the basecoat and the inital green blocking out. The plan will be to paint most of the cloth on these models white and the armour green. To give a real american football feel I hope to use gloss varnish to give the helmet and armour a shine when the models are done.
There were go so! The first introduction post done. As always, I'd love to here some comment, positive or negative.
I might try and get a little bit of red in there somewhere Morden. I just have to figure out where and how much red, without it looking christmassy. Maybe just a little bit of red on the ridge on the helmet and leave it at that.

Yeah the new human team is really nice. Shows how old the other sculpts are if anything.
I'll be looking forward to seeing more of this.
And welcome back to LO! I was wondering where you had escaped to.
I had not escaped anywhere unfortunately Nemy, was just chained to a lab bench for the last year!
Anyway, while not strictly a painting update, I did play my first ever game of Bloodbowl yesterday evening/night. It was my mate's first time playing so the game took us about four hours with checking rules and getting organised. But we had a blast! Wha a great game it is. I won the game 2-0, but my mate's orc team wasn't helped by getting one man sent off for fouling, and my blitzers causing two of his linesmen to be stretchered off. The clinching point came halfway through the second half when the orc catcher had the ball surrounded by two black orcs and two blitzers. One of my blitzers snuck around the back avoiding tackle zones and smashed into the catcher causing him to drop the ball, which a black ork tried to catch, fumbled it to my second blitzer who fumbled it to one of his linesman, who fumbled it to my catcher, who as he's name implies caught it and streaked home for the touchdown. Oh how I laughed!
Anyway I took two pictures during the evening once I remembered my camera!
A large scrum in the centre of the pitch. The ogre proved a tough nut to crack holding the centre.
And an action shot of the only pass I tried all game, which turned out to be a long bomb. The catcher in the distance fumbled it, but picked it up my next turn and scored in the corner after some good blocking by my blitzers
The one game has inspired me even more to get this team painted and to play more games.
