At present I'm working on a small dwarf force with a bit of fluff behind them regarding the general's beard. His name is going to be something Bluebeard and the theme of the army is that he and every other hero/unit champion in the army has a blue beard. Because it's a real focus point of the army i want to make it stand out a bit so I'm asking for some suggestions for the higlights. At the moment I've tried Ultramarines Blue highlighted with Enchanted Blue then Enchanted Blue with some Skull White along with some weirder ones. The only problem is the EB+SW mix isn't as bright as I'd like so what's a good mix/colour to highlight with to really make blue stand out.
Thanks in advance.
PS I can post pics if anyone wants (my painting is all that great though )
Hmm, mebbe highlight with Shadow Gray? That's a kind of blue-gray color. Might make them look old though.
Yeah I considered using greys or grey blue mixes but i can't help but feel like you said it'll make them feel a bit old. I really want it to stand out, kind of like slayer hair/beards. My dragon slayer is actually one of my favourite models as his hair is all orange but his beard is still blue in keeping with the army.
Maybe... Regal - Ultramarine - Enchanted - Ice - (White for a few tips.)
Ice blue would make it REALLY pop, especially if you use white in it too like spittle suggests.

If EB + White isn't bright enough, I'm not sure what you can do. Just how bright do you want it to be!
