    Painting Tyranid

I just watched an amazing video on painting tyranid from beasts of war on youtube. I loved they're color scheme and want my army to look like that. Only problem is all of my army is already primered black.
So should I just layer white spray on it and work from there or will the wash still work?

Or if you could suggest a wash that would work well that would be amazing of you.

Here is the link to the video of the color scheme I want to achieve any advice you can offer me is greatly appreciated.

If you're going to try for a washed colour scheme like that, you'll definitely need to re-do the figures in white or at least a light grey. It's the light undercoat that makes the whole effect work, so it's a mandatory starting point.

Spraypainting over with white should be fine. The layers for spraypaint are usually so thin that some people recommend spraying 2-3 times. Any other method (stripping, painting etc) will not work nearly as well and cost you more in all respects. Washes don't work on black, period.

So i'm using board to pieces primes both times, and the white is not covering the black well. Advice?

I really recommend stripping. But you don't have to achieve perfect white, light grey is fine. Make sure you apply thin layers of spray primer, and let it dry before putting on another one.
Can you show us pics? Maybe there's some other problem we aren't aware of.

Thats weird. You might be using a very watery prime. I've bought random spraypaint over the years and it all worked fine. As long as its a matt finish it works out ok. A few have been a little rough in texture after they dried but I never had them fail to cover. At this point you want to be carful though since you already have 2 spraypaint coats from different sprays on the models. I'd either leave it gray as mentioned or strip the things. One thing you can do (discretely) is if you're buying sprays in a large warehouse store you can open up a bottle and give a model a quick spray. This will give you an idea of how it dries without buying all sorts of sprays. I went to a store like this a few years back with a mini, explained myself, and the worker let me do this.

Only thing I can think of is maybe you didn't shake the can before using it? I've still never had that happen to me, however.
