Ok, so I couldn't resist. The Wereshark mini from Reaper makes no sense to anyone, but is a great looking mini. So I had to get one, and paint him up.
Let me know what you think. Or if you'd prefer, here is his Coolminiornot page so you can let them know what you think.
Blackhat's new blog network for terrain crafters!
I think that's a good paint job. I can't fault the shading and highlights they are all very good but you could of gone for more realism in the model. Like the eyes should be black, like that bloke in Jaws said, a shark's got black eyes like a doll's eyes. Quint says so here.
The back or upperside of the shark is also much darker than the underside. I think a darker back would of made it seem more real. A few more highlights on the feet and hands would help too.
Very good work though, reppy for you.
Very nice painting, but I would have to agree with Leech. The scary thing about a shark (besides the teeth) are those dead looking black doll eyes....
Their eyes are white when they attack/open their jaws a certain amount due to the protective cover the eyes have.
wow thats awesome!
We who have seen war will never stop seeing it....In the silence of the night, we will always hear the screams....
What I mean to say is that I didn't research the color of shark eyes before painting him. The top and back is darker than the underbelly, just not a ton darker (I though that was showing from this picture). Everything else about him was painted without too much thought for naturalism on the mini.
You know, that makes me think I could probably get away with doing a very dark grey for the eyes- but do them as a jewel effect so they'd look onyx. That would keep the black eyes from looking boring for sure.
And it would give me a lot more work to do. Yeah, I'll definitely do that on the next wereshark to come my way... or at least on the next similar mini I do.
